Leaving my comfort zone

Posted by Klavot on June 1, 2007, at 12:36:06

I am going away this weekend to attend the birthday of an old friend of mine back from school who lives several hours drive away. I will stay at her house for the weekend. This scares me, because I will not be in charge of my environment.

Plus, I am catching a ride with another friend - call him D. D is passive aggressive and likes to pick arguments with me. The problem is I'm going to be dependent on him for transport, so I'll have to restrain myself when he starts his nonsense.

I'm only doing this because I was advised to grow through leaving my comfort zone.

I'm a 26 year old male. I shouldn't be such a scaredy cat. My parents raised me over-protective; I was underexposed to the harsh realities of life during my formative years. Now I have to deal with it.

Plus I need to get up 3 AM tomorrow morning! I get funny when I don't get 8 hours sleep. Plus the anticipation of getting up 3 AM means I probably won't sleep well anyway.

I love you people, I really do.

I'm your twin and three times your age almost. I feel for you as I experience the same things. I can't advise you how to make it better as I can't do it for me. But try and stay positive who knows it may turn out to be a lot of fun since your're young you don't need as much sleep really and are able to make routine changes a bit easier as you're not so old that you are set in your ways. Good luck. Love Phillipa will miss you

Thank you Philippa, your input is really appreciated.

Well, au revoir! I'll probably only be back in PB-land on Monday or so.

Come to think of it, I'm actually still only 25! I can't even get my own age straight!
