I'm been wanting to tell yall about something cool that happened at work. Most of you may know I'm a graphic artist, but for a long time now I've wanted to go into web design. This would include taking some classes and learning some new software, but it would also include using some of the skills and knowledge I already have. So keeping that in mind, I've been investigating jobs at my current place of employment and came across an opening for a web designer. So I found out who the hiring manager was and emailed her and asked if she would consider hiring someone who was a seasoned graphic artist wanting to become a web designer. I told her I was already planning on taking some classes. Her response was she would absolutely consider that and she believed passion for designing was what really mattered. So to make a long story short, I'm going to apply for it and see what happens! If I did get it that means the company would pay for my schooling, plus I would eventually make more money! And even if I didn't get it at least I know what I want to pursue now. Woohoo!

I did the same stuff that I usually do, except of course that I couldn't get my daily fix of Psycho-Babble. So I went to other forums: that of the JREF and also a forum called PsychCentral, where I noticed a lot of opportunistic Psycho-Babble rubbishing.

Because of the many posters who post on both PsychCentral and Babble, Dr. Bob has in the past requested that we keep the civility guidelines in mind when posting about that site, its members, or its administrator.

Thanks yall. I applied for the job online on Monday, but haven't heard anything yet. I also applied for a graphics job in a different department. It would be much more challenging than my current one and have room to move up. I've really gone as far as I can in my current position, and its starting to get really boring to me. Plus, although things have been going well lately, it hasn't always been loads of fun.
So we'll see how it goes!

P.S. Today when I was in a training class, I noticed one of the women was from the same department as the graphics job, so I went over and talked to her a while and she said she would pass my name and extention along to the person she knew was doing the hiring for that job.
This is the end of the thread.
