I'm looking for a plain currant bun recipe. Nothing fancy, just a recipe for your normal British currant bun, yet I can't find one for love nor money on the internet. Anyone happen to have one tucked away somewhere?

Thank you Nikki they look delicious. I think I'll try them but I'd need to go and get some yeast to bake them properly, and I want to bake them tonight - hungry :-(
I just have self-raising flour and the recipe wouldn't turn out right if I used that would it? My grandma used to make currant buns using a plain sponge recipe adding a spoonful or two of currants to make currant buns. I suppose technically they were cup cakes or something? Anyway, how on Earth do you make a plain sponge and why is it so bloody hard to find out? I tried using the recipe on the back of the Be-Ro flour packet but they sank and tasted awful. I think I have a Delia Cookbook somewhere, I'll have a look. there must be an answer!

Not really Phillipa, just experimenting. Couldn't happen to shed any light on the matter could you?
