Deneb is the name of the brightest star in the constellation Cygnus. It's not the brightest star in the sky because it is so far away, but it is the intrinsically brightest star in the galaxy.

thanks kath for explaining! phillipa dear, if i were to explain to you what c0ck blocking meant, then i'd be blocked for a while. :( (hey, that's a suitable replacement, i'd say, it's a ZERO folks!!!!!)

but, i meant to post directly after racer, but you beat me to it, hence use of the naughty word. not the first time, probably not the last. no hard feelings dear :)

and kath, you'd be very surprised by my language! wowsa is a replacement here for somethign else only my mother would say! (silly me, i'd say it too.

Mine is from my name, and the song "Michael's Bones" by Morrissey, which is very much reflects the way I feel some of the time.

I am a hematology researcher, so I spend a lot of time with blood.

I get called a vampire all the time at work because I'm constantly looking for blood donors for my experiments.

A vampire seemed to be appropriate :} (that's my vampire smiley)

It took me forever to get the idea you were a New Orleaner from my mind. Madeline and its variants are enormously popular here and really seem to fit.

it's funny that you should say that.

New Orleans has also held so much fascination for me. When I was a kid I had this stupid travel magazine that had a big spread on the city in it. I bet I carried that magazine with me for 5 years.

I finally went to new orleans about 6 years ago, and I felt so at home there. I can't explain it. I don't know. As a scientist i know this is impossible, but do you think one can be in synch with a place? I dream about it a lot.

I was set to go back for two weeks in December 2005. I just cried as I watched Katrina just destroy it. Such a wonderful place, such a great spirit.

There are other places I feel strongly about such as Limon, Colorado and Ireland - though I've never even been to that country.

Okay, this is way off the intended note of the thread. Sorry Phillipa.

Maddie
