Sometimes the fatigue can be overwhelming

Posted by madeline on February 5, 2007, at 18:49:32

Even when things are good, there seems to be always a whispering that everything is going to go to hell.

It just beats you down and never lets you trust anything, unless it is bad.

I'm so tired of fighting this, it is tempting to just let go.

I try to trust life - karma or whatever. I want to stay positive, but it is sometimes so hard.

There is a creeping blackness to depression even when it is in remission

I just want to free from it.

It's as you say.

But it feels to me as if there is something comforting in pessimism. I don't think the solution is to 'make' myself be optimistic.
I suppose (if you believe things easily) you can (like me) tell yourself that you have plumbed the depths (various historical periods, Jerry Springer).

In a sense (to talk about myself) it has been important to mourn most of my life.
It would have been nice to have been happier, but at least I have found a way of tolerating being me.

Sometimes though, I feel I am looking at agitated depression (like my mother had) and that really frightens me, because it feels bottomless.

Does it help to now there's alot of us who know how you feel? I don't know if that's comforting or more depressing. Even when things are going well for me, like they are now, I still find myself sleeping almost the entire weekend. That can't be normal. Its a struggle, I know. But there are many others in this struggle with you. You're not alone.

That's all I want to do too is sleep. Hibernate like a bear. Love Phillipa

It's a horrible feeling to always be waiting for the axe to fall isnt it? I know how you feel, it's hard to stay positive. I guess it's small steps - look for the little things. Ignore the bigger picture and take good care of you for a while.
Hope you're ok.

Well said maddie. Its how I feel too. And like texaschic says, there's a lot of us out there. Its just a shame that I don't know so many people like me IRL!!!

Kind regards

Meri

((((((((maddie))))))))

I know that feeling all to well. I'm always waiting for the other shoe to fall. Even when I'm doing well, I feel like I'm looking over my shoulder. Trying to stay one step ahead and out of depression's reach. At the slightest symptom I panic that it's happening all over again. It's gotten better as time has gone on but that gnawing feeling is still there.

I hope things are going ok for you today.

Regards,
Kat

Thank you all.

Although I would rather have us all feel differently, it is nice to know that I am not alone.

Depression is such a fight and I think sometimes that goes unappreciated by a lot of people.

I'm feeling better today, but not 100%. It's a long long road.

Thanks again. I love my babble friends.

Maddie
