Last year I remember a lot of joking and kidding around on this board during the holiday vacation for a lot of fun. This year seems different a lot of unhappy people and more problems it seems. Anyone have an idea why this is so? We need to liven it up for our mental health. Love Phillipa

I wonder if you'd see whether last year at this time things were like this.
I know more people who struggle throughout the holidays, than who have a gleeful time from Thanksgiving to New Year's. I know that I just cannot adjust my expectations low enough at this time of year. It feels awful.

I'm having a really hard time being cheery about anything at all. The holidays, the family togetherness, none of it is good or healthy for me, and I'm looking forward to leaving. If I knew how to be happier, I would do it, I promise.

I think, for me, it's really important that if I'm feeling badly, I can TELL it here & get some nice warm support.
I don't do very well at trying to set aside my problems & sorta "act as if" I'm feeling better. I know that can work for some people. I tend to try & escape in a good book if I'm feeling down in order not to feel badly.
Phillipa - who knows, maybe it's "in the stars" - I know so many people this year who are going through a bad time or having problems.
Holiday time can be really hard for people. My doctor said (at a recent appointment) that from what he sees in his practice MOST people are going through a lot & feel bad during the holidays!!! I was shocked & asked, "MOST????" and he said, "Yes - most!"
So HEY - it's not just us with "PB" type problems!
Hope we all feel better soon. I, for one, am darn glad the holidays are over.
