I think our Ken died a long time ago by beheading. There are, however, a couple of Backstreet Boys still hanging around... ;~}

lol. Beheading?

I must confess that I have banished Ken from my mod mod Barbie display, and he languishes lonely in a drawer in his nice burgundy tuxedo and no shoes. I ought to be ashamed.

Was it Erma Bombeck that said when she played with Barbies, Ken got thrown under the bed after breakfast, because men left and were gone all day? He was pulled out in time to come home and eat dinner.

Most of our dolls no longer have feet or shoes. Seems the cat has a fetish...

His clothes just weren't cute enough, I fear. Except of course for the burgundy tux.

Many of my Barbies are missing one or both of their legs. Apparently it's a very very bad thing to try to move the arms and legs of a Barbie that has been stored in the back of one's closet for many years.

But with the proper clothing and accessories, it's barely noticeable.

Why, might I ask, have you decided to rid your house of Barbies and Backstreet Boys? Your daughter(s) will just spend a fortune trying to recreate their collection off eBay when they're old. My husband still speaks with regret of his Matchbox collection, and insists on keeping my son's, even though said son was never really in to them (except maybe bulldozers and backhoes when he was very young).

But perhaps I'm projecting a bit here.

I call my Daughter Barbie. Long story no time. Love Phillip ps she comes fully clothed and has a head.

There's just way too much stuff cluttering the house and garage. Barbie has consumed much of one closet; keep in mind I've had 3 girls and the collection has spanned 20 years.

My husband still has his Matchbox cars. He was so anal even then, they're all in pristine condition today. He's sold a few and gotten big bucks for them.

It's just time to let go. Let someone get some enjoyment from the things that are cluttering up our lives and get a grip.

Ah yes, we're doing that right now too. Just in case we move, but it will benefit us even if we don't.

To assuage my guilt, I'm working on telling myself "I'm not wasting it and I'm not ungrateful. I enjoyed this very much in the time I had it, and so it was a very worthwhile belonging. But now it's time to let someone else enjoy it. And that's ok."

Then I close my eyes, thrust it at my husband and turn my back, trusting him to do the honorable thing.
