Tolling Bells

Posted by llrrrpp on May 12, 2006, at 11:55:54

Why are the bells tolling? My office overlooks a cathedral, and for some reason the bells started a funeral peal at 11:24 am this morning. This went on for 20 minutes. I thought I was going to die. Just when the coffee kicked in, and I was going to get some work done, the damn cathedral triggers a depressive crisis! AAAAhhh! Did someone die today? (besides my hopeful heart?)

I think the gothic environs and the gloomy weather are conspiring against me. Who am I kidding? I feel miserable even on the brightest spring day... At least today the inside (psychology) and the outside (environment) are in concordance -- except for that brief moment when the bells started tolling, sucking me back into suffering.

Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis. A good soundtrack for my morning. Much like the little electronica track for psycho-babble, one cannot tell whether it is a minor or a major key. (I think it's in Doric).

Mother F*cker

The freakin' bells are going off again. at 2:07 in the afternoon. why me? why today?

There are the bells that ring the hours and the quarter-hours. There are the bells for the carillon (for playing tunes). There are the wedding bells, and the ceremonial bells. But the death-bells have a singular knell. A gut wrenching, visceral, pause-in-your tracks morbidity. It's almost more than I can bear.

Yeah, that will go over really well. A nice gesture, directed towards the house of God. Most uncivil. ;-)

I'm totally addicted to p-babble today. yikes. no work for me. I'm hosting a wine-tasting party in 30 minutes. That means I need to cut some cheese. What poor timing. I planned this 2 months ago. who knew that I was going to be prescribed potent brain scramblers? Now pdoc warns me not to mix alcohol and meds. well. I will have to be very diligent...

nice hanging out with you curtm :) Have a happy Friday :)
