Hi, folks.
I want to put up all my information about buprenorphine in one place on the web. I've got about 7 documents and a bunch of links and I want to collect it all in one place that people can Google. And I can just give folks a link to that page instead of having the data scattered throughout Babble archives & the web.
Any advice on where to get FREE, reliable, fast-loading web space?
Blogspot is great, but the format is set up for daily blogging, not stable content.
Any thoughts appreciated. :-)

Pseudoname,
I used prohosting for a college class on web design. It's not that bad. They offer bannerless hosting for a short time for free, and then have banners on your web pages, but no free hosting service doesn't do this. There paid subscription isn't too bad. Their address is: http://free.prohosting.com/
I liked prohosting because it doesn't require you to use their specific site-builder tools, and you can use ftp to upload your pages.
Also, if you have broadband, you probably already have free space through your ISP that doesn't use banners. Both Comcast and Verizon have free web space available to subscribers. Many paid dial-up accounts do as well.
If you do a yahoo! search for "free web hosting", you'll come up with a number of other options.BB, Dee

I just sent in an application to join the Yahoo group as “pseudoname_x”
Can we upload .pdf files to that Yahoo site?

Hey, Dee.

Thanks for the tip! Prohosting actually looks pretty good, but the free version doesn't seem to allow storage of .pdf, .doc, etc, files for others to download. But those aren't essential to my plan (bwah hah hah hah). Blogspot doesn't have that storage, either, as far as I can tell.
Thanks again.

No problem.
If you want to keep them on Babble, that sounds like a good idea.
If you want to use Prohosting, you can store the documents in your directory by using the ftp tool. I don't believe that they have restrictions on file extensions.
Anyway, glad I could help.
BB, Dee.

I put my bupe links up at the Yahoo Babble group. (If anybody wants to look, it's at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/psycho-babble-tips/links/buprenorphine_for_de_001146748536/ )
But I'm not satisfied with the layout or level of control there. I also think those Yahoo groups don't get indexed very well by search engines. I'm starting to get "into" this project, so I think I'll also pursue a page at prohosting.
Yahoo does allow free file uploads, but you have to JOIN the group to see & download them. In 6 years, 12 people have joined, LOL. I'd like to store the bupe .pdf files (med journal reprints) there for people to download, but no one will even know about them if they're behind the membership wall. I think that setting can be changed by the group's owner. (Hint hint, drbobuchicago?)
Thanks again. If / when I get a page up at prohosting, I'll let you know! :-)
Dee, did you like your web design class?
PS to alesta— Thanks for that. I had looked at myspace earlier, but I could *not* figure it out at all. I think I'm too old! LOL! ;-)

That was fast, thanks!

You're right, you don't have much control there. But they're Googleable...

Can you link to them instead?
Bob
