Still wanting a pet , but in limbo

Posted by Tanzanite on March 8, 2006, at 23:43:04

Well, haven't got one yet. But still thinking about it a lot. There are so many animals out there. Jeepers, and the more I think about it the more I am not sure what to get. Eventually I do want a puppy I think, but right now that is not feasible because I still am hoping to go visit my family (who are very far away), and want to be here to work with the puppy. Then I keep thinking about small pets such as guinea pigs, chinchilla's, hedgehogs and cannot decide for the life of me. So, I guess I will keep thinking and driving myself nuts. I really want a sugar glider but they are not allowed in the place where we live as far as I know and I have no idea why because they are very legalized in this state. They also don't allow ferrets. So, a thinking I will be lol. I just want a little furry friend. First gotta get other stuff under control. Well, if you read this excuse the length lol. Peace to you all

Tanzanite,

Pets are wonderful - although I'd rather call them "companions" than "pets". We have a dog, and over the years she has become our soulmate. When you have something that gives pure and unconditional love it requires you to reach out beyond yourself. They totally depend on you for lots of things. It brings the best out in you. I totally recommend a dog - they are soulfully interactive, and bring you into the outdoors - where we all need to be at times.

If you can all swing it financially, I would really recommend it. As long as you can provide it with a safe environmnet emotionally, and when they can get lots of exercise. Dogs can always be taken in by friends, family etc if you go away. You can bring them most places (at least here in California), the only problem being airplanes.

Well the best of luck to you in any case.

Jon

I think I want to get a small dog someday for sure. I need to get a small one that I can handle well and take care of because of physical limitations. But, it is something to look forward to. I don't know if I can ever have kids, so a pet will be an addition to my family. Yes, I would definitely consider a pet as more of a companion because they are companions and keep you company and can be one of your best friends. I am so glad you have a dog that is such a great friend to you. Peace and Blessings
