Okay I know this a wierd question and I don't even know if this the right board to post it on. But the question concern a social question at Thanksgiving Dinner. Okay here goes. One of the reasons my Daughter is getting a divorce is because her husband smokes weed, pot, whatever you want to call it I have no experience with it. Another generation. Anyway if her husband smokes it and she gets preganant will it cause defects in a baby? Yeah I know it's a wierd question but I sure don't know what the answer is. Anyone ever have a baby when someone smoked daily. I'm embarassed. Thanks Phillipa

I *think* that weed only affects the sperms speed in that they may have trouble conceiving and not so much the baby. Now if he smokes in the room with herthats a different story. Its not a weird question at all!

if she's smoking it, it's a different story, but if it's just him, it lowers sperm count and can cause defects in the sperm (which *could* in turn cause problems with fetuses, but it's not that likely, it's just more likely the sperm won't get to where they're going). i don't think she has anything to worry about.
