Went out with a friend today

Posted by Angela2 on October 9, 2005, at 16:36:56

It was OK. But I don't really feel comfortable with her. I only went out with her because I know her so well since high school. Sometimes I wish she would just go away though. We have nothing in common. We are two different people. I feel nothing for her.

She just seems to like, look through me. and she thinks I care about her superficialness. I like my therapist better than I like her.

I understand where you're coming from. You sound like a people pleaser like me (that's the first thing my T told me). Try to keep in mind its okay to do what's best for you, even if it means blowing someone off. Sometimes people leave you no choice but to be rude (in your mind anyway). That's how certain people manipulate people like us. Its okay to say no just because you don't want to.

A lot of times I go out with her becuase I say to myself, there's nothing really wrong with her, I mean she doesn't abuse me. But I am seriously so sick of her. She doesn't get mental disorder. She doesn't get me. I can hear it in her voice when she talks to me about me. If that sounds snobby then I'm a snob.

It doesn't sound snobby to me, it sounds insightful. Its hard to learn to put yourself first without feeling guilty. I'm just learning that myself. If you don't want to hang with her, no matter what the reason, you don't have to. I really mean that.

I'd just rather hang out alone and Babble the night away. Even though I know it's not healthy. Fondly, Phillipa

I had a friend sorta like that. It took her moving away for me to take the opportunity not to be in contact with her anymore!

>I know how you feel!! I am a blunt person but hate to hurt someones feelings and had the same problem. I was ignoring phone calls, the door at times (bad..i know) until she moved away ; ) If not it was either tell her or go more insane...good luck~i know it's tough.
