Rainbow,I click on picture in "my pictures". Then drop down in "Files and Folders" on left side in middle; click "email this file". In upper left of screen it asks if you want them smaller. Click "yes"........... I have Windows XP. Fondly, Phillipa

Hm-m-m. I know how to do it in Photoshop on a Mac at work. But I'm not sure if I can figure out how to do it in Windows. In Photoshop a photo is made up of pixels. To shrink it you have to reduce the pixels, or dpi. When reducing it you have to make sure you don't have the 'constrain proportions' box checked or it will reduce the pixels and make the actual size bigger. I don't know if this makes any sense or helps at all, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Someone who has Windows will probably be able to give you better advice.

Go to Image Size, which is under View I think. It will say the size and dpi. Make sure you uncheck 'Constrain Proportion's, or it may be 'Resample Image'. I can't remember without looking at it. I think you can uncheck both. Anyway, if you bring the size down and the dpi increases, then you didn't uncheck the right thing. It shouldn't change. To view a photo on screen, it doesn't need to be any more than 72 dpi. If you want to print it out it needs to be higher. But all you really need to do is reduce the size without changing the dpi. I hope this makes sense. Its hard to explain to someone else.

I hope I actually helped. I kind of felt like an idiot trying to explain it to you. Considering its what I do for a living, I ought to be better at explaining it. Like I said though, if I could have sat down at your computer I would have had no problem.
