Hey, it's MYUHC.COM AND WWW.LIVEANDWORKWELL.COM. and if you can reach them then you the bomb. because I've been on line and on the phone all day. And it's a daisy-chain all the way. The system is designed to frustrate anyone with sense enuff to get directions straight. So now, at 11:15 I'll use the phone and I will vent, in distinctive american english verbiage, as many four letter words as I can expend.
There programs are b.s. and they well know that to go on line is to tell one to go blow. I've been bounced once, twice, then thrice and then again.
So some poor kid will answer and then I'll make his or her nite with some slammer expressions. and maybe if I do it just right they won't end the session by calling the cops and having them knock on my door...of course for my well being, when I just want to get off the
floor of my ignorance of second opinions and will they pay. But the corporate M.F.'s are having their day. "Service" now stands for rigamarole. Any web adress with a "my-" for a lead in means they think you're an a.h. [gee, I wonder what that stands for; is it civil?] Frankly after a day spent on the phone I suspect it's nothing but corporate drivel. So, going off line to call a counselor...and, oh the abuse and piss-offedness I'll offer. But f*ck 'em if they can't take a joke, they've got my wife's money and I'm nothing but smoke, in no way a person, one of modern life's jokes. A man dis-abled, no longer in yoke, but since I'm not I think I'll bellow and snort, and maybe the cops will be called to support, the corporate inviolability...a person doesn't matter. It's just the way things are if one is a mad hatter. And lord I'm mad, so enuff of this chatter, donning my armor to see if I can clatter against the digital labyrinth...ha!Myhuc, and if I get thru, well maybe they can come to get me.

As for insurance, how about we start a laughing thread over on Social to ask for all the ridiculous insurance experiences? I've got a few I love -- "we don't know if that treatment is covered or not, I asked my supervisor and she doesn't know, and doesn't know how to find out, so submit it and we'll all find out..." That is my current favorite.
And forget the websites. Just call first thing. But remember: that kid who answers the phone is probably paid minimum wage, has worse benefits than you do, and really isn't the one who you wanna yell at. I start off with the "kiddo, you ain't paid enough to listen to me right now -- how about saving us all a lot of bother and putting me through to your supervisor right now?"

They kept my daughter in the emergency room over 12 hours while 'trying' to decide if she'd be allowed to be admitted to the psych ward.

I've had similar experiences. United Health Care is one of the reasons insurance companies have a bad name. They work out contracts with the providers telling how they can treat their patients. In the last few months, my chiropractor and primary care doctor left or were made to leave the network. So don't always blame the doctor when he spends only 10 minutes with you.
UHC is liked by investors. They recently reported record profits.
Report your experiences to the BBB and online consumer groups.

In fact, we should probably do that EVERY time we have trouble with any mental health related service provider.
Thanks for the suggestion.
(By the way, what I do in bad situations like that is to write a complaint letter to the company involved and cc the BBB and any other entity that might be relevant. Little extra work, but a chance that policies might change to avoid the bad publicity.)

Sure wish my employer hadn't chosen the cheapest one... I'd be a healthier employee if they'd stayed with Blue Cross Personal Choice that we had last year...

Well I'm not one to stick up for insurance companies but UHC has been pretty good, that's since we switched to the PPO. The HMO sucked as all HMO's do.
I don't have to call to switch doctors, I just have to make sure they accept UBH. When I have called they were fairly quick and helpful. Therapy is different, I need to get authorization for that. Maybe my expectations are just really low after having Kaiser for so long or I've just been lucky. I've had much worse coverage than this. I go to the chiro and get a massage and adjusted and pay nothing, they waive the copay. $15 bucks to see my pdoc. Going to change at the end of the year though since Cingular ate us up.

I think it's what program within the PPO our bosses have paid for. There are differnet levels of service and copays.
Mine stinks.
I'm glad for you that you are having better luck with them than I !
