Privacy of our own thoughts *trigger*

Posted by Deneb on August 3, 2005, at 23:37:07

I was just thinking today that I really like the privacy of my own thoughts. I love how my thoughts are totally uncensored. I can think about whatever I want and never get in any trouble. I love having the freedom to think anything I want to think...I would not want to censor or block my thoughts, even the negative ones. In fact, I think I take pleasure in being able to think horrible thoughts.

I like the fact that no one can control what I think. I could be out having "fun" with people and everyone would think that I was having fun, but I could be thinking about my final exit. I like my secrets.

Does anyone else feel the same way about this?

I tend to retreat into my thoughts a lot. Hours of entertainment found in my dreams and daydreams. And it often feels safer to me than interacting with others, although I'm working on that.

Well, my perspective is a bit different. I always feel like I have to censor my thoughts because the bible says, " what a man thinketh, that is what he is."

That terrifies me sometimes with the things that run through my mind. ROFL

That's the difference between thought and action isn't it.
And we can control our actions in ways we can't control our thoughts.

I love to daydream and fantasize. :-)
It is way more exciting than real life!
I think it *is* safer than interacting with others.

Why do we even need to work on it when I is so pleasurable?

God must think I'm a nutcase then. :-)

Does this mean that thoughts do not matter and only actions matter?

Well, I miss out on the sharing experiences with others if I stay in my head all the time. And boy do I get startled easily, too. So I'm working on at least opening up more to those who matter a great deal to me. But it's not easy. Baby steps...

Hi Deneb

Yeah, I think we should be quite accepting of our thoughts and feelings and not expect them to be other than what they are. Well that's what I do with mine, but now that I think about what must go on in some people's heads I'm not so sure.

Someone I read said that we should treat our feelings (thoughts?) like an attentive mother.

I think the attention paid to purity of thought, for want of a better way of putting it, is one of the regrettable aspects of Christianity, at least the sort I grew up with.

Anyway we can control our actions in ways we can't our thoughts or feelings.
