Yes, our Dinah is quite articulate :-)
And more importantly, very patient!

Dinah is an *extraordinarily* good writer. There are few writers I enjoy more. This may sound over the top, but I am totally serious. She's gifted.

totally. she draws a clear, compelling picture without being overly dramatic or using flowery language. very understated yet vivid.

Here's on of my favorite Dinah Posts, from years ago, you probably never saw it.

I decided to try the mango I had bought the other day (after braving the mega-superstore). I carefully set the scene. I made sure I wouldn't be interrupted, dimmed the lights and put on my favorite Dr. Hook record. To make sure I would be verrry comfortable, I put on my most sensual big granny nightgown.
I followed all the instructions carefully. I delicately sniffed, I caressed. I teased the meaty fruit with my tongue before beginning to nibble delicately. Finally I lost myself in the experience. And then.... And then.....
I realized that my ex-boyfriend was right about me after all. I mean, it was nice. Really it was. But....
Maybe I can blame the Effexor. ;)

wow, that *is* a good one, but i'm not sure i understand the boyfriend part. there are undertones of homoeroticism. it got me kind of turned on. ;-)

Yeah, she did that part well too. It won't be as funny if I try and explain it,
but after all the preamble she just said, well it was okay I guess, don't really understand what all the fuss was about.. kind of like what her ex boyfriend had so romantically (sarcasm) said about *ahem* tasting other things for the first time.

heh. i wonder whether dinah will mind us discussing her sex life like this.i really like the part about the chickens in the subject line. (i assumed that had little to do with the mango, but it adds to the comical effect.)
personally, i think mangoes are delicious, but i find i need to floss after i eat one. :-)

I think about Ted a lot too, I don't know how he is. I really liked those days at babble.

And she'd always invite us to dinner and let us raid the fridge because there's more in hers than mayonaise and a sprouting onion.

i know, right? that IS a nasty trick. that would require -- oh dear -- getting out a recipe and buying other ingredients and preheating the oven and god only knows what else.i bet dinah makes banana bread every day.
(i think i'm getting into some transference now with my dinah mommy fantasy.)

I think she does, and I think she fixes you a little snack if you are sad too, and she makes peanut butter sandwiches just the right way.. and she says "you're lovely just the way you are" and "everything is going to be okay, you'll see" and "if you'd just quit leaving your stuff lying around maybe you could find it when you need it" and "where have my good scissors gone"?Maybe we both have mommy fantasies..

Me too, no wonder she's so private about where she lives, no unexpected dinner guests.
I never think of myself as funny, it's weird when people say that, but I like it. I stayed a friends house for months once, a couple of years ago, and even though the house was really small and I had usurped their living room, she said it was worth it because it was like having Spalding Grey on the couch.
That made me really happy (ironically)
