My fiance took me on a walk to the park where he first kissed me 4 years ago. We sat on a bench. He hemmed and hawwed a little, and asked me what it was that made me fall in love with him. Then he got down on his knees and asked me if I would marry him. I said "I will!!" He pulled a ring out of his pocket and handed it me. We hugged and laughed and cried and at that very moment, a very large sprinkler head came up behind the bench and soaked us thoroughly.
We had to run away. He was saying "Don't drop the ring!" Then he put it on my finger.

Sure beats mine. lol.
My husband and I had been dating for thirteen years, and one day I turned to him and asked if we should think of marriage. He said yes, but we'd have to carefully negotiate the terms first. So we did.
We went ring shopping, and I chose a nice nontraditional ruby.
Then one day he formally proposed and gave me the ring, but I don't really remember that part at all.

You know...I WAS going to write that I was the one responsible for the sprinkler thing, that I have an...errr..uhhh...arrangement with this really cute man who maintains the park AND I've been plotting with your fiance behind your back (so I'd know precisely where'd you'd be and when) AND therefore, *I* made sure it popped up to soak you and give you a funny story to tell in the future...
