I don't mind the actual work, at least it is more bearable than that market research place I used to work at. But I liked the atmosphere at that other job...not like now. The more I work with my uncle, the more I don't like him as a person. He yells at his kids a LOT. He's super cheap and gets angry whenever he thinks a certain customer got too big of a portion. He yells at his kids and wife when he's angry...in front of customers too.
His kids will probably spend their entire summer vacation at the restaurant now. They don't like it there. Their parents work 7 days a week now. I feel bad for them. The oldest son (12) is expected to help out. His Dad yells at him whenever he makes a mistake. I hate this. I know that my cousin hates this as well.
I feel like yelling out to the customers to boycott his restaurant because the owner forces his kids to work and it is child labour. The Dad doesn't really "force" the kid to work...but he does it in other ways. I know my cousin would not choose to spend his summer there.
I just hate having to help my uncle out. I don't even mind that I only get 15 mins break, even though he deducts 30mins from my hours worked. I'm not really "forced" to work there, but there are other ways to make people do things ...certain expectations from family. I don't even hate the work...I hate supporting his values.
My Mom told me that she gets angry sometimes because she was robbed of her childhood through child labour. People yelled at her whenever she expressed a need to have fun. How can people take advantage of children that way? It's just horrible. :-(

I sure wish you could take your cousins and get the heck out of that situation Deneb. Since your mom feels that way, why does she support you and the cousins working for him?

Is this just for the summer?
What are your plans for this fall?
