I am absolutely not a sweet eater. I generally pass them up if they're in front of me and I'm hungry.
But the first day of my period I eat as much chocolate and various sugary things as I can get my hands on.
Already today I've had two donuts and a cranberry muffin. And I'm eyeing the other muffins.
I wonder if there is a medical reason for that. It can't be purely comfort seeking, or I'd be eating bread and maybe tapioca pudding.

Anyone who says it's imaginary is just not right. I used to have really irregular periods, but I always knew when I was due because I'd have an insatiable appetite, and either wake up crying, or furious about something that may have happened months before :(

Hmm. Thats something I need to think about: my appetite and the kinds of foods I get the urge for.
I've fairly recently become aware of how my period affects my mood. Amazed at just how much actually. Crying and raging over stuff that happened yonks ago - indeed! I've never thought about how it might impact on this little problem I get with binge eating every now and then...

I used to never eat beef but when I got my period I always wanted a steak. Figured it was the iron or something. Fondly, Phillipa

So maybe different people crave different things?
I've been really lucky for the most part with mood swings. I rarely feel tearful and almost never crabby. There might be a slight change around ovulation.
But I always crave sweets, even chocolate (which I really don't like).

The first couple of days of my period I am more hungry and mix up food I usuall would find repelling. Haven't thought quite of pickled fish with cherries, but strange combos are usual.
