This ECT

Posted by saw on March 1, 2005, at 13:35:17

I can see the effect the ECT is having on my short term memory. I remembered that I was able to come on line. That was all. I have just gone back over everything that I posted yesterday and hardly remember posting a single thing.

Sigh - and next ECT is tomorrow morning.

Hold thumbs for me.

Sabrina

((((saw)))) See, it's a good thing we don't get posts deleted here!!!
Would that we could selectively erase some memories though, eh?
At least you know that you are as sweet as ever, whether you remember it or not.

The memory loss may be just a temporary thing while you are undergoing the treatment. So, (I know it's easier said than done), try to not fret about it yet ok? If you feel up to it, perhaps you can start a thread on the main board about ECT and memory loss.

Strength to you Sabrina. My thoughts continue to be with you.

my mother had over 100 ECT's in her life.
Her memory did come back but it took time.

I can imagine how frightening this must be for you.

When I was a teenager I read a book about a womans experience of going through ECT.
The memory laspes are always a problem...
really quite scary.

so my heart goes out to you.

oh saw, you are very special to me.
I am here on babble or
you can babblemail me if you want.

Hey Sabrina hon.
The memory loss is fairly normal
It is just short term
For the stuff thats happening now
While you are getting the treatment
And hopefully for a little while before
So that you don't continue ruminating on all those negative thoughts that resulted in your getting so depressed - see?
I think that is sort of how it is supposed to work.
Some things are best forgotten...
Hang in there Sabrina
Things will get better for you
Your memory will be okay where you need it to be later
But now you just need to rest
And heal
And get well.
Thoughts are with you.
I remember how horrible and confusing it felt
But I hope it helps you out.

Hi Sabrina. I'm thinking about you and I know just what you're going through, since I had ECT before also. I had memory loss and forgot what I had told people. I hope that you have social and family support as you go through your ECT treatments. Please keep us here at dr-bob up to date on how you're doing if you can.
