Emergency coaching may be our only next way out..

All,

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/ap/20050126/ap_on_re_us/train_derail

This "chucklehead" kills ten and mames 180 and we stand by and say, "Poor thing! He must be troubled! Poor thing!" Others might say, "OMG where's the parents?" (he was 25 and had a wife and child; he was his own parent!)

I'm not coming from a point of heartlessness! If I were, I would have started out with, "That guy is a candidate for the 'Darwin Awards' except he wasn't actually removed from the gene pool before having at least one child!" I didn't say it that way! I'm truely not heartless as you will see...

We are in bad times right now. Less attention is being given to where we are going and more attention is being given to, "Can't we go faster?" Other questions are, "Why can't I be more richer?" and "Shouldn't I spend more milk-and-bread money on recreational drugs and the lotto?"

We can make a difference! We do have the power to make a change; to make changes! We need a plan! We need to start by studying the horizon down to the landscape in front of us. We need to learn to be each other's coach; to coach each other.

This is not the only way. Obviously, putting everyone in straight-jackets and starving them till they yell, "UNCLE", is another way! Coaching each other is however, a do-able way. Along the way, we can learn to hold ourselves accountable for our own proclivities.

I counted 8 different books on coaching on the shelf between "Borders Books and CDs" and "Barnes & Noble Bookstores" so "Pat Croce On The Road", (Fox TV), and "Dr Phil" aren't the only sources of coaching technique.

The tough part is seeing! we doit all day every day! ...or do we? ...perhaps its either 'rose colored' or '**** covered' glasses between us and the good new information! Regardless, we are in an emergency situation, TODAY! Time to stop guessing and start working, whether it 'feels-good' or not!

We are responsible for the world around us. Lets roll up our sleaves and get to work, inserting our personal power for change, and get to work, NOW, TODAY!!!

All,

Forget about the World problems for a minute! In the Boston area, function is indeed following form.

In the 60's, there was an off-Broadway play called, "Little Murders" that was later turned into a movie starring Elliot Gould. People strangely started shooting from their brownstones at people just walking down the street. Around Boston, it has been reported that people are acting out largely similar to what I remember this 1966 movie portrayed. They are just simply shooting each other; at random; no age, nor sex, nor ethnicity concerned. "Little Murders!"

This is an emergency!

Are you suggesting that we coach others, even though we have no credentials?
I can see there is a very serious social problem going on, but I don't feel the least bit qualified to do anything to fix it. It leaves me stumped as to what you're asking us babblers to do.

Isn't it just a fancy name for 'neighbor?'

Not all coaching - some need more.

But what you are really talking about is behaving more like neighbors - knowing the guy next door and recognizing when he's in a crisis.

Making sure the kids next door and down the block have adult supervision? If you see them doing something they shouldn't *not* being afraid to say so or talk to their parents?

Worrying less about world peace and concentrating on the people around you?

It does take a village.

I think waiting for credentials leaves you without credentials and not a coach but a regular person with a desire to make the world a better place. From what I know about PartlyCloudy, and especially from what I've heard those who've met her personally she does a really good job of that all ready, no wanting there.

Well let's just say my saying what I *know* to be true about you, allowed me to look that way
for once ; )

Ás for the rest of it, if that's what Rod was trying to say, I have no idea.
