Always had a soft spot for the Care Bears (my daughter grew up playing with them) and they've made a comeback to where they're sort of classic now. TenderHeart Bear was my favorite And, all who know me (and I have to agree) would say I wear my heart on my sleeve and am easily touched by people, emotions, life in general....thus "10derHeart".

Atticus Finch is one of my favorite literary characters, and "To Kill a Mockingbird" one of my favorite movies -- especially due to Gregory Peck's portrayal of Atticus. There's a line of dialogue that Atticus says to his daughter Scout near the beginning of the book: "Never judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes." I thought Psycho-Babble would be a good place to find people who had walked a mile in my shoes and talk to them. I'd just been released from a psych lock-up ward for an almost successful suicide attempt involving a box-cutter, so I hoped this would be a place where I could talk about things like that without being treated like a freak. Besides, the name of the protagonist in my favorite book, Yossarian in "Catch-22", was taken. Real first name: Chris.

babble is a good place to come.. we usually help each other thru rough situations.. occasionally we have bad days at the same time and that is horrible.. but we generally kiss and apologize if we were rude or anything. welcome to the board.. and hope ya find love and friendship here at babble.

My name is my spriual name.
It was given to me by my spiritual teacher.
I adopted the name and became it legally.
So it is my real name in the real part of myself
I may in the future adopt it again.

Do you mean that you got your name legally changed? I would like to change mine - to my posting name actually, though I'd put my full first name in as my last name. I think my father would throw all sorts of fits (maybe thats the point) 'but then I'll lose it when I get married anyways daaaaaaaaaaad' (not that I plan to -ha!)

My parents were hurt at first but they got used to it.
I love my spiritual name.
I changed back to the one I was born with when I left the religion.
now I find a drifting back, so hence I am using it again on babble.

Your name is lovely.
Parents get over stuff like this....
I think?

I chose VWoolf because I think I identify quite a bit with Virginia Woolf and was reading ""A Room of One's Own" when I started contributing to PB. I identified because like her, I was a writer, I was confused about my gender, because I was abused, because I had thoughts of suicide. But not so much any more. I just identify now because we are both writers. And I love to give myself that title.

I am not giving out my real name. I have disclosed too much on the boards, and I have quite a well-known public profile.

Ada is a family name that is very dear to me...and I had a lover who once always ended our conversations with "Say Goodnight, Gracie" after the George Burns series. I've used this as my passwords in the past, but descided when I came here that I wanted to be AdaGrace.

Often choose passwords or user names and forget them....so I stuck with one I'd remember...Slavegirl...what I think I am most times...whether it's at work or home....I am the Slave..picking up, fixing, mending, cleaning, cooking,....overworked, underpaid, depressed...and still a girl at heart, even if I feel 95 in the shade.

Yes, but I'm seriously thinking of changing it for a couple of reasons.

1. I'm afraid of someone from other message boards discovering me here and then reading my inner most thoughts.

2. I hardly feel like an angel these days. Not that I'm bad but I'm always depressed and that's not how I picture angels to be.

So, I see a new name coming very shortly when I can think of something.

A VERY depressed AG

AG i wouldn't change my name.. you don't have to share with anyone here who you are. don't admit anything and they won't know. don't let others rule your life.

I really don't feel comfortable with my posting name. If anybody from any of the other boards I've been to or still go to came here, they'd know it's me and I don't want that.

Also, I just don't think that "Angel Girl" is all that appropriate for me anymore. I'm too down and depressed, spiraling quickly back to the "black hole" and I don't know how to stop it. I don't picture angels being that way. I'm still trying to think of a name that is more appropriate for me. I had picked one but when I tried to register with it, somebody already had it even though I've never seen it being used. :(

do you have a T? i was just wondering if you do and what they think about the spiraling down to the whole. have they ever mentioned light therapy? this time of the year we get less light and it affects our moods etc.. and can make us feel l ike we are going back to the black whole that we use to hide. there are specail lights to use for this. maybe you could try that. i hope things get better for you soon. we are here to talk if you need us. and if you want to babble mail me i can be reached by clicking on the trucker in blue at top of page. stay in touch and i'll listen if you need me to.
