in trouble--what is wrong w/ me???

Posted by smokeymadison on December 14, 2004, at 18:27:07

okay,
i just left work an hour and fifteen minutes early. i was only supposed to be there for four hours, so it wasn't like a long shift or anything. i said i had a migraine and had to go home, and everybody seemed ok with it. truth is, i just couldn't stand being there for one more second. i felt like i was going to exploded, like the world was ending. very agitated.

but i cannot do this. i have to work--i am so behind in my bills right now i needed the hours. it was only my third day on the job. i cannot do this again. i don't know what to do...

Take it one day at a time and just get through this the best you can. That's really all most of us can do.
You may be so worried about things that you can't seem to focus. And anxiety steps in and slaps you around some more. I have the same restlessness a lot.
All I can do when that happens is tell myself to put on my game face and just shuffle through as best I can. Some days it's harder than others but it ain't never easy.

SmokeyMadison,

I am sure you can get on disability, just find out how. I don't know for sure, but I find it hard to believe that being on disability would prevent you from getting a job. It'd be good to research that question though.
Good Luck.

You know, I don't know if I'm doing the right thing by telling you to go on disability. That is not what I would do. I would just try to stick it out. But I guess it all depends on the severity of your problems. Are you just having a temper tantrum? I tend to have those and not even know it. Good Luck.

I think disability processes vary by state, but I have siblings on it because of bipolar and major depression, and they get a monthly payment and medicaid. I think they can even work parttime and still get it, in case you want to try to keep a hand in working (which might be good for you) without as much pressure to do it everyday to pay bills.

Good luck, I really empathize with your feelings. So sad when a migraine would actually feel better than the truth.

Phil,
thanks for the link! i called and they gave me some pointers. have you or anyone you know used this company? i believe that they could make it easier to get disability, but i really need all the money i could get from it right away. on the other hand, if i go at this alone, my psychiatrist said that i will probably be turned down at least once. i really don't have time to wait for it to go through 2 or 3 times before being approved. Advice?

Your doc is right about being turned down without representation. I haven't used the company but have a friend that did and evidently it was a good experience.
I haven't decided if I will file or not and can't get you much info other than the company was highly recommended.
It'll be worth asking them the questions asked here because my friends situation was relatively quick in getting through due to her situation at the time. Your milage may vary.
I know that isn't much help but I wish you well.

i decided to go with a lawyer if i get turned down. a friend of my dads is a lawyer and he recommended a lawyer that specializes in helping people get disability. i called the lawyer today and the paralegal i spoke to said to try it the first time w/out representation and to call them if i get turned down. i only hope that this doesn't take too long...
