why still an "eye for an eye"?
Why do my taxes pay for war?
why do we still break some of the 10 commandments:
thou shall not kill?
Why are we destroying the earth with pollution? Are we evolving ourselves right out of life?

apparently the rich have decided that more money is more important than human lives...
It is now money that is evolving...taking us all over with wars, et cetera which are SAID to be fought over religious or politicals beliefs.
It is only who has vs who wants on every warfront...
and we poor people are used as weapons against the other rich guys poor people.Let's see how many CEO's sons get drafted (yeah, right!) if they reinstate the US draft....

I like the idea of money evolving....
It seems to have a life of it's own.

I hope this is not too PBC a topic.
I feel like a woman on the run in PB these days.

Some theorists say that not only do genes evolve; memes also evolve. Memes are 'good tricks' in the words of Daniel Dennett. They are such tricks as screwdrivers and religion and language. We don't need to reinvent the wheel in our lifetime, we are taught of the products of social and cultural evolution when we are children.
Memes are ideas that are transmitted down through the generations, we pass them on to our children as we pass our genes on to them.
Just something to think about...

It would not be considered it polite for me to call your beliefs lies, please accord others the same respect.

We still are evolving. I know for a fact that even over the last century the proportion of people who do not even have wisdom teeth is increasing. Who needs to have the suckers out? Just don't grow them in the first place. Like me. ;-)

Strictly speaking nobody says we used to be monkeys. The notion is that monkeys and us have a common ancestor. There is a difference.
It is not like all the present day monkeys are all busily evolving to try to be like us. Thank god.

It all depends on how the term "evolved" is used. I was *not* using it in reference to biology. I was referring to emotional and social evolution.
By the way, considering how society is constructed I'm not really sure how free my will is...

I like to think I am evolving spiritually and emotionally.
What I am changing is to (like Bobby inspired me to do) take my emotions out of the drivers seat.
Larry Hoover:
is it a good thing that wisdom teeth are disappearing? Doesn't it mean our jaws are getting smaller and more delicate?
in some circles that's a sign of decline in health. My Uncle looked like a monkey?
He seemed to be closer to them then the rest of my family.
Was he de-evolving?Jai

"Each one of us matters, has a role to play, and makes a difference. Each one of us must take responsibility for our own lives, and above all show respect and love for living things around us, especially each other.
Together we must reestablish our connections with the natural world and with the Spiritual power that is around us. And then we can move triumphantly, joyously, into the final stage of human evolution--spiritual evolution. "

IMHO, God is amused at our attempts to decipher her magificent creation, but She is repeatedly dissapointed in our attempts to understand her.

Thanx for this quote, I really like it.
I feel like everything and everyone's energy has always been around, that we experience changes into other energy forms.
This is what I connect with, but at the same time I realize that no one really knows anything for sure on this topic. That's okay with me. I like that. Life would be too boring for me if I knew all the answers...

I agree with that wholeheartedly, until the day I can make a dandilion, I think I'll remain humble in my opinions of, and in awe of creation
and whomever or whatever is responsible for it.

Would you mind changing to something else? I've been posting as Poet for over a year and I think the similar names might be confusing, since I'm female and a poet, too.
I'm glad there is another poet on babble, but please give some thought to changing your name, if you don't mind.
Thanks.

Hi Poet,
I've had some time to read more of the posts at in this forum, and read a couple of posts expressing your concerns.
While I don't see what you are saying a being a really serious technical problem, I'll change my screen name to something else. The screen name "Poetess" isn't that important to me. After all, "A name, is a name, is a name" - Gertrude Poetess :)
Thanx for speaking up about this :)
Formerly 'Poetess' new name tba
