Doctor visit.

Posted by bandoman on November 9, 2004, at 7:55:57

Just need to vent a little. went to my GP Friday.
I am their at 12:45 for my 1:00 appointment. I sign in.
I have a raging migraine. 1:00 some of the the doctors employees come back from lunch. They see me. At 1:10 guy walks in and states to receptionist (who has failed to acknowledge my presence) he is early for his 1:30 appointment and has paperwork for a physical that his company wants. He says he is on company time, I am using my sick leave to go to the doc. Two minutes later the nurse opens the office door and escorts the guy into the back. A few minutes later I stand up and see that the receptionist is yapping with a clerk.I left.I am mad.

There have been plenty of times when stuff like this has happened to me and got me upset. I'm learning to ask instead of jumping to conclusions. Even so, it's sometimes hard to sound rational and in control when I'm upset. Maybe the doctor was not back from lunch yet. Maybe the office staff had things they could start on with the other guy's physical without the doctor being there.

I'm sorry this happened to you, especially when you felt so bad. Hope you are feeling better.

Just reading of your experience steamed me!! I am SUCH a stickler about service - and I'm very vocal when I'm not happy with it. It must come from too many years of working in stores. I would definitely mention it when you next see your GP.

I will not be going back to that doctor again. He was a good doctor, but there are too many bodyguards that i do not want to ever see again. If I saw this Doc on the street I would say hello.
Without a lot of detail this GP is a friend of my P-doc, and as a bipolar, child abuse survivor, i will admit to having no patience. I dont like sitting in doctor offices and I dont like or maybe it's trust strangers.
MKB, I wish the doc had not been in, but I heard his voice in back.
Worst part is I am sitting in his office with my sunglasses on (MIGRAINE) and my hands shielding my eyes. The physicians assistant knew what the problem was from past experience. The only thing I wanted was to get home to a nice dark and quiet place. So I did.

All I can say is let them know what they did wrong, so maybe it won't happen to someone else.
Hope you find a cure for your migraines.

Have you tried a specialist? I didn't find my gp a great deal of help for my migraines, but a neurologist specializing in migraines did a great job for me.

aaarrrggghhh! Bandoman, your experience sounds so sucky and awful and just plain bad service-y. It's so wrong the way you had to wait and then someone else got the red-carpet treatment! Makes my blood pressure go up in sympathy. :)

Why IS it that many doctors' office receptionists seem to have a bad attitude? (Apologies to all receptionists who do NOT have bad attitudes!) The ones at my current and previous doctor are rude and act like they are doing me a great favor -- at significant personal effort and expense -- and I should defintely, definitely appreciate it, or else -- to sighingly, underwater-ly sign me in and copy my card. But the people at my dentist's office are nice...

I hope they treat you better next time!
