Are you over 40 and Overweight

Posted by AdaGrace on November 7, 2004, at 18:03:14

I swear, if I hear that dadblame commercial one more time, I'm going to put my foot through the screen. And why is it only on the country music video channel? Is that like some sort of diss to all country music fans? I want to write to the general manager of that station and give him some of my pea picking bee hived hairdo brain.

It's like when you look at the National Inquirer in the checkout lane at the grocery store (I only skim through, wouldn't want anyone to know I actually might be reading it) and low and behold there they are, all the weight loss methods, including tea you drink, drops you put in your water, hollywood fruit juice (which I think might just be some sort of liquid laxitive), right there along with the psycic hotlines, Tarot card readers, $600 backyard pools, and log homes in Montana. Isn't this just a tad stereotipical? We are not all Tammy wannabe's.........okay, maybe I do want to be Tammy Whynot (and that is not a typo). But who cares?

And you know something else I noticed today? All the viagra commercials are on during the football games and on the sports channels. Okay, some are amusing, but just once, just one time I would like a Tampax comercial to air during Sunday sports extravaganza day at my house. In other words, noone else touches the tv. We watch shows about last weeks games, we watch shows about this weeks games, and then we watch games, games, games and more games.

Wow, where did all that come from? Did I offend anyone? Was I uncivil? I certainly hope not, I was trying to vent and be a tad funny at the same time. Sorry in advance if anyone was not amused.

Ada About to be 40 Grace

Ummm, AdaGrace, Your birthday is a a bit more than a week before mine. So by the time mine comes, you will have had a bit of time to warn me what I am going to feel. (Smile)

It's not just country music fans they are aiming at. They run on BBC America, I swear it's every commercial break. I can't hit the mute button on the remote quick enough.

Hit that mute button or throw something soft at the TV.

Happy almost birthday. Don't sweat being 40, I'm 47 and 50 is the one to fear. Though my 50 something year old friends say that 60 is the real age to fear.

What I want to know is when did "infommercials" take the place of good old reruns of really bad television shows? I want my Bugs Bunny back. Where did Flipper go? And Lassie hasn't come home in an awfully long time.
I don't want Ron Popeil injecting cuts of meat and that stoopid Ditech guy taking up all that time in my living room.
Oh, and the BowFlex people! Who else gets to stand on a lazy susan while you tense every single muscle at once!

oops, tv rants are always pretty close to the surface for me.

50 is a piece of cake. I did it this summer and have exactly the same aches and pains I did the year before. No more. No less.

And it's such a blessed relief not to need tampax ads.

OMG! I initially ignored this thread because it looked like it was someone endorsing a weight loss product!!!!! Talk about priming! :-)

The sentence reverberates in my head at least ohhhhhhh FOURTY times a day. It's like I think that is what they are saying at the drive-up window at the fast food place, what I hear instead of "Welcome to McDonalds, how may I help you"
