My brother in law and his wife are adopting a baby boy born tonight. They are pretty tired, happy, and probably scared to death as this all happened much much quicker than they thought. They will get to take him from the hospital on Sunday night, hopefully, although there is still the 30 day period where it could be reversed.
But at least this time (compared to when the told us about it 2 weeks ago), I wasn't sad for me, just happy for them. Yea!

Congratulations! It's so much fun being an aunt.
Are you sad for you because you would like children too? I hope that happens for you. Being a mother can help you identify with your mom-therapy-clients-life-is-overwhelming. When the timing is right, of course.

Congratulations!! I have a nephew and its been great fun. Its a bit like being a grandparent- you get the good stuff like playing with them, then you just hand them back if they get tetchy, need changing or whatever. And the parents have the tough role of being the ones to say 'no'.
I dont have kids of my own, and am sorry that my sister and her family are in a city a long way from me. Kids do grow up really quickly- its a cliche but true.
