Favorite PB boards?

Posted by Cass on July 24, 2004, at 12:48:22

Here are my favorite PB boards and why:

1.Psycho Social Babble: Depression and anxiety are not huge problems in my life any more, but I still consider myself recovering. I like the levity of this board. It's fun to be able to post on any topic, and there's a lot of comic relief. It's colorful.

2. PsychoBabble Health: I'm a vegetarian, and I'm very interested in nutrition and exercise (though I haven't been doing much of the latter lately.) I like finding alternatives to taking pills. I know it's crucial for some people to take psych drugs, but luckily I don't have to any more.

3. PsychoBabble Faith: I check this board regularly although I don't post there a great deal. Spiritual and moral/ethics issues
are an important part of my life. I like to read about the beliefs and principles of others. It's always reassuring to know that there are others with similar values even though we don't all belong to the same religion. Being truer to myself and my personal convictions has been beneficial in helping me recover from depression.

Here are the boards I frequent only on rare occasions:

1. PsychoBabble: PB is an old favorite. Years ago, when I was on meds and very depressed, I would go to PB a lot, but as I mentioned, I'm not very pill oriented any more. My depression and anxiety has improved a great deal in the last 2-3 years due to many personal changes I made in my life. I'm not on any ADs or antianxiety drugs, but every once in awhile there's still an issue I'd like to post about or read about.

2.PsychoBabble 2000: I'm a PB old-timer, and I can post at PB 2000, but I don't post there a great deal because I've been gone for a long time, and I don't know the members there as well as they know each other.

3. PsychoBabble Administration: This is a great board. I'm glad Dr. bob made it. I've posted some questions and suggestions there, and I always get prompt feedback. Thanks, Dr. Bob.
(And every once in awhile I'll get caught up in the drama of a "please be civil" argument.)

I really don't go to any other boards. Which ones do you like?

social, for the same reasons as you :)

books, because it's difficult for me to find people to talk with about books - 'cause I live in red neck land.

substance, because every day is a struggle and there is strength in numbers

psych, because even though I'm new to therapy, I can always get good advice and feedback, even though I was BURNED not long ago regarding EMDR

thanks for asking.
I like your post and found this topic really intersting.

1. PB Admn. I like to stop here first to see what's going on. I post rarely. It seems to be the Saturn/rules and laws of the place. I can get a feel for the mood or tone of the whole place.

2. Next I go to Social...I love social. I love to see what is going on and the newest hot topic for the day-moment. I post here a lot.

3. Writing is next and there are some really talented people posting on this board. I love reading the stories and poems. Very inspiring often am moved because of the deep sharing.

4. Faith....I love this board for all the people who are sharing their deepest beliefs. I follow belief systems, I think they are what allows us to bond and makes us unique.

5. I will check in with the Grief.....I like to be there for anyone who is facing hard life challenges.

6. I check in with books: I have gotten new authors from here and am grateful everytime I bend a new binding before bed.

7. then Psychology is so cool. I love the posts here. I don't visit it as often as I'd like.

8. I like Health and Alternative...it's great to see the questions and the wonderful answers that are so valuable. I have learned a great deal from this site.

9. I checked the newbie site and was totally impressed with the postings. Greeters are totally awesome and I love seeing the new people pouring in. The newbies share so deeply.

10. I am too new for 2000

Thank you Cass for asking this question.
I enjoyed doing this.
I just love PB!

Hi PartlyCloudy,

I'm glad to hear you like PBS for the same reasons I do, and it's great that you get some relief from "redneck land" with the book board. My concentration has been impaired by fibromyalgia, and I haven't been reading much, but when I do, I'll check out the book board.

BTW, what is EMDR?

Hi Jai,

Your input about PB writing inspired me to go there. I read some things, and I actually wrote a poem. I haven't written poetry in ages, but I just felt like expressing myself a little. Thanks for mentioning it.

I saw it!!!! I responded.....I love creativity (nm)
