My marriage is now old enough to drink

Posted by DaisyM on June 18, 2004, at 10:20:31

I have been married 21 years today. I realized that is exactly half my life. Which is a weird thing in and of itself. Because tomorrow I will have been someone's wife longer than I was "just" me. Not that I know who me is anymore.

My husband had a lovely rage going before he even went to work this morning (bad night, he couldn't breath) and he got frustrated even finding his socks. I found them, made him coffee and as he left said "I hope your day gets better. Happy Anniversary, our marriage is now old enough to drink." He said, "I forgot. But drinking might be good, because this all sucks." And he left.

So, I have the day off and I can a) feel sorry for myself b) pull out pictures of our wedding, etc. and feel sorry for myself or c) go shopping.

I guess I have to stop having expectations about sentimental things. Then maybe my feelings wouldn't get stomped on so frequently.

I think I choose "c"

Thanks for letting me have a pity party.

happy anniversary! it's people like you who've been married so many years that make me have a little tiny bit of hope for my own life. :)

i hope his day improves too, and the he comes home, aplogizes, and sweeps you off your feet.

Congrats. Your's is old enough to drink. Good way to put it. That means mine is old enough to get cheaper car insurance.

What a thing for him to say. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt that his frustration over not feeling well caused him to lash out. I hope you got a dozen roses and two dozen apologies and that you were able to have a celebration.

And I hope that you chose option (c) and bought yourself something divine with his money;)
