Good news for a change!

Posted by Scott in Vermont on June 11, 2004, at 15:06:03

My girlfriend just stopped by to visit me here at work (no, that's not the good news, but it sure was nice).

She has been offered a job that she applied for last week! It's a raise, it's 5 minutes away from where I already work so we can commute together (and it cuts her current commute by 30 minutes) and I can see her during lunch!

We should be completely sick of each other by September. Ha.

No, really, this is a great turn of events. Now she will have insurance, a lot better job, nicer people to work with... wow, I'm really happy for her, and I'm happy for us. It's not much of a raise, but it's a raise coupled with a decreased fuel consumption. That has got to count for something somewhere.

Anyway, this is a great way for me to end what was a really hard week. I think I'm going to have a really good weekend.

-Scott

That's great, Scott!

How many times have people done that joke to you?

Seriously, that's great news. Enjoy your weekend. It's starting out on the right foot.

Thanks partly! Wow, I feel really happy right now (as I cycle into another manic moment) but this is just... wow. This is great. I don't know who is happier, me or her. She'll have a real job with real hours with real people with (almost) real pay and we can commute in one car and leave the house at the same time and see each other for lunch on occasion and ... wow. This is great!

This weekend should be awesome, as we have a LOT to celebrate.

How have you been, anyway? I have seen you respond to posts, but not many actually "from" you. Still partly, so that's good, but I do hope things are going ok for you. Post a thread sometime. :)

I'm so happy for you Scott. You deserve it, and so does she. Congratulations to the both of you.

Dee.

Yes my sweet the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! You got that urge to run around naked from me too!

Love you,

Momma

That's great! I LOVED it when my husband and I ended up at the same office. Everybody tried to say it wouldn't work, too much togetherness... but it was great! Enjoy it.

Thank you all!

Wow, so many people responded to my good news! Thank you all!

To KK and Tooter, she has only a 1/2 hour lunch and I'm on Lexapro. If there are any "nooners" it'll have to be... uhm... how to put this... the emotional connection will be there, and things will "work", but I won't be "closing any deals" so to speak. ;)

To Tabitha, yes I have a girlfriend. I’m an awfully luck man and I’m genuinely happy. :)

To Deirdrehbrt, many thanks for the good wishes. I’m really excited for her, and I know this is the hearald of more good things to come.

To Ilene and Poet, thank you. Also Poet… I hope that more good news does come your way. Even if it’s vicarious, I know that good news helps. I’ll post more when I have some. :)

To Underthecs, we’re not in the same office, she’s with another company about 5 minutes away. She drops me off here about 7:45, she’s at work by 7:50, and we’re both ready to go by 8am. That’s the plan, anyways. We’ll see how it pans out. I’m glad that it worked out for you, I know a lot of people naysay about working too closely or seeing each other too much.

(I already said “hi” to partly, but I’ll do it again here… hi partly!)

So, this weekend was just simply awesome. Catherine was bubbly and happy all weekend, which kept my mood “up” as well, we had an impromptu party on Saturday night to celebrate (we had planned a little get-together anyway, but just with Jon and maybe Fionn) that turned into quite the gathering (even my sister came! There’s a lot of implications there, but they are all good) and everyone who experienced the utter blackness that was my life over the last winter season made a point of telling me how far I have come and how I have turned my life around so well. There are battles and challenges ahead, but I’m a much stronger person now that I may have ever been before.

Today I’m fighting to hold on to the feelings from this weekend. I awoke to a dark cloud on my horizon, and it’s creeping in, but I’m staying busy and I’m remembering good things from this weekend and I’m remembering to smile.

Life is good.
