well, part 1 anyway. Blockbuster didn't have part 1, so I got part 3. Got to see Charlotte miscarry, Miranda tell Steve I love you, Big's heart surgery, and Carrie's first date with Barishnikov.
It seemed like Carrie was more annoying than I remembered. She just seems so cloying and little-girl squealy. But Charlotte and Miranda were more real and touching. I loved when Charlotte bravely put on her pink dress and went to Brady's party after her miscarriage. Loved Anthony and Stanford in the gay prom episode.
Samantha is still pretty much a caricature, but the bozo wig/ hair color mishap was funny.
Can't wait for part 2 so I can see the Big/Carrie reunion. And I'm already wanting her to kick Barishnikov to the curb. Even their first date was squicky.

I really think the show fleshed out Miranda and Charlotte's growth more than Samantha and Carrie's.
But I was rewatching the first two seasons recently. And I understand Big's hesitation to make a commitment to her. She'd go from being totally subserviant to throwing these big tantrums. I can see where that would be a bit disconcerting. I think she grew a lot too. Although she still did the overly subserviant thing to the end - it really showed up with the artist.
I still thought those love scenes with Baryshnikov were a bit icky. I'm not quite certain why.
Oh, but that last episode! Especially Miranda's part. It made my therapist yell at me though. :( After I had seen it, I was bewailing the fact that I didn't love well enough to bathe my parents when they grew decrepit. And he was yelling about me being upset that I didn't want to bathe my parents! He doesn't watch the show, and didn't get what I was trying to say. He just thought I was being totally weird. I think he stores up those things in the "Dinah's semi-psychotic" ledger in his mind, without ever understanding the cultural sources of what I'm saying. Darn man watches all the wrong TV.
I got in my DVD already, even if I am miffed at HBO for selling two half seasons. :)

Yeah, I thought Big was pretty innocent in season 1-2. Carrie kept wanting some vague commitment, while it seemed Big was there for her, wasn't cheating, and I don't think Carrie really wanted to get married, live together, or have kids anyway-- so I just didn't get what she was demanding. She also intruded uninvited on his mother's visit in S1-- very pushy & unappealing. Then of course she got Mr Commitment (Aiden) and didn't want him.
Then again I'm prejudiced in favor of Big because they just had so much fun together, and he was so independent, so non-clingy. I want a guy like that.
