I've just revived a treasured summer ritual from childhood... the breaking in of flip-flops. We used to call them 'thongs', but nowadays it seems that word is reserved to describe Britney Spears' underwear. You know how flip-flops hurt between your toes until you get used to them? Every summer I'd get a new pair, those dimestore type, the colored rubbery ones, and endure the discomfort until my toes adjusted. At some point I just decided they were too much trouble.. but this year I've bought a pair, and endured the toe pain, and gotten used to driving in them. I'm summer ready! My flip-flops are black with silver studs. Very hip.

I can *never* get used to them. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch.
At least they don't fall off my feet though. I've got a really high arch and have the awful habit of walking right out of my shoes.
I wish I could wear them though. You're right. They look very cool.

My new ones have butterflies on them! And I found pink sandles that have a cute ross the foot strap and a tiny heel. Great for sun dresses. :)
God I love shoes!!!! (wonder what that means?)

We never could get together. I don't know how many summers I endured blisters in the same of tradition, but now I'm afraid I can only tolerate Tevas. It looks like I'm wearing a pair of retreads. And they take forever to dry when they get wet.

I trust that we are all painting our toenails, too? Mine are bright red!

Oh yeah, rose-colored toenails. I just struck out on buying pink sandals, though. Couldn't find a single darn pair in my size, even in the Nordstroms mothership in Seattle. They even let me go into the back and look for myself! It was the holy grail of shoe shopping. But I did get some cool loafers, which will be nice for work. (OK, I know they're not sandals, but I gotta take what I can get.)

I just went a little wild and bought a darkish blue-red for my tootsies. My toes through phases colour wise. They have been mermaid green, international orange, french manicured (by a professional, natch), but usually they are variations of pink. If I don't have my toesies painted I feel underdressed.

Sigh, I haven't got around to painting my toenails yet. So I'm still wearing loafers or closed-toe shoes. Maybe I'll call and see if I can get a pedicure. No sense in trying to do it myself if I can get someone else to do it and relax at the same time. Maybe I'll think about what I want to say in my next session.

You got to go IN THE BACK!! Wow Bessy!
I'd be broke and insanely happy. I think I'm going to have to bring up how happy shoes make me in therapy. He'll never get it. In this department, he is such a guy!

<<<<<< .... well, maybe a step (pun intended) towards them anyway! Do you ever shop online? You can search by so many criteria at many sites, like color and style. If you know some brands that fit you, it can be so much easier that way. With the first site linked below, you don't really even need to be familiar with how the brand fits you, because they actually pay shipping both ways so it costs nothing to try a pair out! And they provide honest customer reviews of the shoes and whether a given style was thought to be true to size. Shipping only takes about two days too:

This is another site with good prices and a lot of variety (they don't pay shipping, but it's reasonable):
The Famous Footwear and JC Penney sites usually have a large selection too, as do many of the online versions of major department stores. I do a lot of shopping online (not surprisingly), so let me know if you need any other site suggestions! Good luck, I bet you can find the color you want! :- )
This is the end of the thread.
