My anger gets pretty uncontrollable when I am hypomanic. Everything, but everything irritates me and I can't say why.

And it's also expressed while I'm depressed but in a more sullen way.

I first went to a T intending to learn "anger management" techniques, then I was dx'd for bipolar 2, GAD and panic attacks. The medication eventually evaporated the anger issue (it took me a full 12 weeks to feel the full effects).

You can post here about your issues with anger, or if it's something you are addressing in thereapy, then try the Psych board.

Best of luck and tell us your story.

Well Ivan im a very calm person most of the time and this post kinda struck me because today i kinda lost it. Well my friends except like 2 or 3 im pretty sure think I'm the calmest person on the planet always helping them and now really ever getting angry but well today i was trying to get this present for my mom for mothers day and i kept messing up by the tim i got home i was furious and it wasnt exactly about the mothers day present. noone was home and im thankful for that and dont worry i didnt hurt myself but i did go on a tantrum though my house. I even put a dent in a steel door.(shhhh my parents dont know. lol) I was so agree i just wanted to hit something but everything i saw i couldnt break because it would be horrible like a lamp or my brothers cap and gown. So i got a candle i bought a long time ago and really didnt like and well grabbed a hammer and the candle was about 8 9 in thick i mean it was a huge, 3 wicker. but anyway, i babble, and have a short attention spand. ok back to the story i wacked away at it outside and its in about id say a couple of good flattend peices of wax. oh but for you ummm well i say possibly release anger in a constructive way i normally dont break stuff unless im in pain from my brother (hes going off to college soon thank god i cant wait.) normally i jusyt draw cook or do something to take my mind off of it nomally beating eggs or tenderising meat helps.lol. god i better wrap this up just do something constructive with anger and non harmful

i usually keep all my anger inside and get sick over it. migranes and ulcers are the result. i look really stupid when i do get angry and try to express it. i usually give my boyfriend the silent treatment instead.

thanks guys. i played football and ran track and prettie much everie other sport to release it. i dented 2 lockers in my school last year and almost broke my knuckles once hitting a light-post. i used to play video games, or read, or just go and cry. i've been getting worse though. it's almost to the point where i want to hurt someone, especiallie myself(which alreadie was there but it's worse now) or someone else. i hope i never do. if you look on the newbies page i got a few paragraphs from one of my bad moments if you want to read it. well i hope i can control it longer. i wish there was an anger page though.

I also have had a problem with uncontrolable, "out of the blue" anger, unfortuneately the anger has been pointed at the ones I love the most.

I am new to all of this, but have recently been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and secondary major depression.

Your post reminded me of myself alot. Have you been traumatized? Such as: possibly as a child, a car accident, or the death of a loved one, etc.?

Have you had the opportunity to discuss how you feel with a therapist?

My best to You
~Beth

<<<<<<< Hi Ivan Michael,

Sorry I haven’t greeted you sooner, but I *have* been listening. You are a very unique and creative person, Ivan! Your writing style conveys so much emotion yet so much ‘starkness’ at the same time. You enable someone to really feel everything you’re expressing – very much including the emptiness and nothingness between the lines; that depression and anger feel very complex and very simple at the same time. It all comes across in your well-chosen, to-the-point words.

I’m so sorry you’re feeling horrid. You also have a gift though, and maybe through your struggles you’ll get to a place where you are using your creativity to find your way out of things and help ‘fulfill’ yourself, and connecting to the world at the same time… I did read your posts on the Newbie Board that you referred to, I believe you meant this mainly:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/newbs/20040420/msgs/345688.html

…and again my heart goes out to you. I have heard you say a couple times that you wish you had an actual anger board to post on, so I did a little search for anger forums. I’m sure there is a lot more out there under different combinations of keywords than I used. As you can imagine, some of them didn’t seem geared towards support exactly, and others looked great but had extremely little activity on them (which to me would feel too lonely). So here are a few I found that maybe you could try… Although everyone here wants you here too, so if you do like any of them, do stick around! :- )

This one is geared towards people around your age. There is an anger (and some anger-related) forums here. Also back up and look at the main page – there are some quizzes and things that members participate in together:
http://www.golivewire.com/forums/cat.cgi?action=teen

The next few boards are easy to use because you can search certain date ranges and forums/keywords conveniently.

Here are the results of an “anger” search at a popular and active board. There is also an official Anger forum, which you will see in the main forums listing at my next link:
http://www.healthboards.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?s=b674b4c1562b73fe7923d641401f609f&f=31

Main forums listing from the site the above search was taken from:
http://www.healthboards.com/boards/index.php

Again, here are the specific search results from an “anger” search at a popular board (the main board has topics similar to those people talk about here; no formal ‘anger’ forum but easy to find it by keyword):
http://forums.grohol.com/dosearch.pl

… and a “hate” search there (I didn’t search that at all these boards, or in my main Google search – I would guess you could actually find some supportive boards/people searching under that too, but of course be picky! Probably a lot of useless stuff too. But here you should be safe):
http://forums.grohol.com/dosearch.pl

Here is another busy and popular site. You have to register before you can search by ‘anger’ or anything else, and this one does not have a formal anger board either. I did a search by that myself, and there wasn’t much recently, but this is just another good and established one to keep in mind and check now and then:
http://depressionforums.com/forum/ikonboard.cgi

And (HEY MIRROR!), here is an eclectic little one for different poetry subjects, that has an anger and blues forum. I don’t know if you’re into that kind of thing, but I saw Mirror say he was:
http://p217.ezboard.com/fpoeticconfessionsfrm110

I wish you all the happiness you deserve Ivan, and hope the extreme darkness passes soon… And of course even the not-so-extreme darkness, I hope you find your way out of *all* the darkness! = | :- }

Geez, I never get a thing right *all* the way! I'm sure you would have figured this out yourself, but... The search results links I posted from the Grohol site will only take you to a page you can search *from.* Looks like no link to a specific search ever appears in your browser and can be copied. So, just search keywords like 'anger' and ('hate' to use the word but relevant to your inquiry..) 'hate.'

Like I said, at this site there wasn't a specific anger forum but I found good hits in a search (and in general there, it's easy to search by keywords and date). But might as well surf in on the main forums page (below), since the links I posted before will only take you to a 'try again' type page:

i don't know how much this'll help but i heard that wearing yellow-tinted glasses is supposed to help control anger.... maybe it will calm you a bit?
