New fav quote

Posted by EmmyS on April 14, 2004, at 7:50:04

I just received this and it gave me a kick in the behind. I've been slacking off on things I really need to do. I'm going to tatoo it to my calf and cross my legs a lot this summer.

"So what if you know what bliss is like? Get to work. So what if you feel special? Everything is special, everything is sacred. Get to work. Let go of desires, power, and relationship bliss, and get to work giving your gifts. "

~ Haidakhan Baba

1) Good point about the pain, perhaps I'll just get a t-shirt.

2) Regarding your slogan, consider ducking.

Inspiring, kick your a** quote, Emmy!

This month, my calendar at work is telling me:

Who makes these changes? I shoot an arrow right. It lands left.
I ride after a deer and find myself chased by a hog.
I plot to get what I want and end up in prison.
I dig pits to trap others and fall in.
I should be suspicious of what I want.

This is like the story of my life!

Last month I liked even better. It said:

Stop the words!
Open the window in your chest
and let the spirits fly in and out.

I like this question:

Who was more deluded? Don Quixote or the man who followed him, Sancho Panza?

charles bukowski..

It's possible to love a human being if you don't know them too well.

Show me a man who lives alone and has a perpetually clean kitchen, and 8 times out of 9 I'll show you a man with detestable spiritual qualities.

I don't like jail, they got the wrong kind of bars in there.

Bad taste creates more millionaires than good taste.

Genius might be the ability to say a profound thing in a simple way.

Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must live.

albert camus...

Charm is a way of getting the answer yes without asking a clear question.

Nobody realizes that some people expend tremendous energy merely to be normal.

Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.

But what is happiness except the simple harmony between a man and the life he leads?

I don't know who to credit these quotes to, but they certainly hit home with me:

"Give me ambiguity or give me something else"

"NEVER, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night!"

"No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously."

"When trouble arises, and things look bad, there is always one individual who perceives a solution and is willing to take command. Usually, that individual is crazy."

"You're just jealous because the voices only talk to me."

and this little gem from my wife: "All men are idiots, and I married their king!"

Peace out

I've been saving up quotes that I like, so here's a few of my favs:

"Tennessee Williams once wrote, 'We all live in a house on fire, no fire department to call; no way out, just the upstairs window to look out of while the fire burns the house down with us trapped, locked in it.' In a certain sense the playwright was correct. Yes, but oh! What a view from the upstairs window!
What Tennessee failed to mention was that if we look out of that window with an itchy curiosity and a passionate eye; with a generous spirit and a capacity for delight . . . then it DOESN'T MATTER that the house is burning down around us. It doesn't matter. Let the MF blaze!" – Tom Robbins from Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates

"Lie down before the door you long to go through" – Sanai

"The world we have created is a product of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking." – Albert Einstein

"And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight inside the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." - Anais Nin

I find that when inspiration is knocking on everybody's door but mine, when life passes by with it's wheels splashing the entire contents of the puddle I'm in front of right on my best outfit, when my cat proudly displays the collection of rodents she has killed....on my pillow, it's these times that I need a more sure source of inspiration.

Assuming that there are other people , sad, downtrodden, sorry, humiliated, loveless.... I submit the following.

"Great love, like great acheivment, requires great risk."

I'm too much a "safety first" kinda guy. As a PTSD poster child, I tend to always take the path of least conflict and risk. I need to stop settling for "not so bad" and go after the things I truly want and need. Easier said than done. Sometimes I feel gutless. I repeat the above quote to myself quite a lot. So far it hasn't done sh*t! Maybe tomorrow.
It is a GORGEOUS day today! I wish you all peace, love and happiness!!

kid,

that's a wonderful quote. and there's nothing wrong with choosing the path that causes the least amount of confict for the parties involved. in fact, that seems to work for most people and provides the greatest amount of happiness for all.

some people say i'm too impulsive and don't really think before i act. however, i don't tend to wonder 'what if..' either. yes, i worry, and i worry often. but, i don't very often wonder about scenarios involving my life and what could have or should have been. however, perhaps if i take a bit less of those 'risks' i wouldn't find myself in those situations i often talk to my therapist about. and i would have a bit more stability in my life than i do right now. and kk really strives for that stability, you know.

perhaps there's a happy medium? maybe, maybe not. i suppose that's what life is all about. finding out and learning through experience. and like you said, perhaps you'll figure it out tomorrow.

good luck kid, and mabe you could start taking those risks by not supporting your head while you sleep at work in your chair. i think sleeping in your chair at work is quite a risk to take, don't you? i mean, suppose you were to fall out of your chair and hit your precious head on your desk dear. that would be quite a shame. could you at least get an air mattress and sleep on the floor? or rest your head on the desk? or at least have a coworker watch you sleep to be sure you don't hurt yourself? be careful about sleeping in your chair kid. as precious as it is, i still worry about the possible risks involved.
