Hi Mag,
I've worried about the same thing! Panic attacks are awful...it would be nice to have a few moments peace and just lead a "normal" life. I think I'm getting closer to that, but I can't even go on vacation without worrying I'll loose my mind. I don't think it's too much to ask to be able to enjoy a vacation.
My grandfather always said that if you're worried about loosing your mind, you have nothing to worry about. (Because people who are crazy don't know that there is anything wrong with them.) It's kind of funny if you think about it, being afraid of loosing your mind is actually reasurring because you know you AREN'T really loosing it. Of course that's a very rational approach, and it's almost impossible to be rational during a panic attack.

Hi Trucker,
Good luck with the weight loss! Gaining weight is the last thing a depressed person needs...you certainly don't need one more thing to decrease your mood. I hope you start feeling energetic so you can begin shedding those pounds!

hey ... that's so funny ... my dad used to tell me the same thing. if you think you're crazy ... you're not.
but yes again, it's nearly impossible to think that way during a panic attack.

Hi,
Last night I increased my Lexapro dose to 20 mgs. Today I'm feeling unmotivated and a little crabby. I really hate feeling this way...I just want to go home and take a hot tub soak. Instead I'm here at work trying to be productive when I'm not motivated to do much of anything.
My mind isn't all here either. I'm tired, and can't seem to concentrate.
I know this will go away. (I hope this will go away). The waiting period is just a little tedious, especially since I've been on Lex for 3 months already. Has anyone else felt unmotivated and maybe a little flat?? Please reassure me that this goes away. Thank you.

Hi Kath - It will go away!!!!!!!!
When I feel that way, I try to work on the "easy" things in my job til the feeling passes. I found caffeine helped, if you're okay with that sort of thing, health-wise! I was pretty sleepy the first couple of weeks of upping to 20mg, but it went away pretty quickly after that.
Hang in there, it will get better :-)

K~
I am on week 2 1/2 of 20mg. I am feeling spacey and flat, not as bad as when I first started but more s/e's then when I was on 15. I hope they go away too and I start feeling good again! Good luck, God Bless,

Hey K...Me again...Your grandfather is a very very wise man...My dr told me the same thing when I say that to her..She said "Heidi if you were losing your mind you wouldnt know it so dont worry"...but you are right in the middle of a anxiety/panic attack that is just not rationale...But that is too funny...Sounds like your grandfather is a hoot...Mystic

Mystic!
That is great news, God is good. I am so glad that nothing seems immeditaly threatening. That is very re-assuring. I would probably talk to your OBGYN, I think that is a great idea to maybe get a biopsy to be super safe. Good luck and GOD BLESS!

Mystic - Good news, what a relief! We are the same age. I went through that sort of scare last year. Between the first mammo and the more intensive one were the longest 4 days of my life!!! Keep watch on it tho.
Hope you have a good day!!

Hey, guys, sorry I haven't been posting lately, but I've been feeling really dragged out and listless. Have been hardly able to keep my eyes open, yet needing more Lorazepam in order to sleep. When I found myself calling in sick on Monday, I realized that this can't go on.
I cut back to 10mg Lex (from 15mg) yesterday, and I am still feeling a little out of it, but am more awake today. We'll see how it goes for awhile. I am taking Lex for depression, and they say the lower doses are effective for depression, so . . .
I guess if the crying comes back again I will try to tough it out rather than go for the increase again. I am glad I have you all to help me if it gets bad again.

Hi Jlynne,
I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. I hope the 10 mgs works out for you.
Have you tried Prozac. I had a lot of success with it when I was depressed. Please keep us posted on how you're doing.

> K.K, I tried Prozac about nine years ago, and did well on it, except for the insomnia. My pdoc at that time would not give me anything to help me sleep, so I had to stop. Would you mind comparing your experiences with Prozac vs. Lex? esp. the fatigue factor (not the insomnia -the daytime fatigue) My current doc is okay with giving me something for sleep.
Thanks:~)

Hi Jlynne,
In my experience the biggest difference between Lexapro and Prozac has been my energy level. Prozac made me very energetic whereas Lexapro makes me extremely tired. (Although the Wellbutrin is helping with that a bit.) Also, when I first started taking Prozac I experienced no side effects. When starting Lexapro I think I suffered every possible side effect along with some that aren't listed on the package insert.
Now that I think of it, I did have a little insomnia on Prozac. But I liked it so much I wish I'd never stopped taking it. (I tried taking it again a few years ago and it wasn't nearly as effective as it had been.) I hope you find something that works!
K.
