I share my life with my cat Christina. It really helps to have someone constant in my life. She's sometimes a pain, but that's much better than being alone.
I am also looking into getting a canine companion. One of my therapists has recommended it. We'll see how that goes. I'm also planning on moving soon.
Dee.

I live with 4 norwegian rats : Guimauve, Poubelle, Botine and Slinky.

They are the ONE TRUE thing that stops me from killing myself. Its silly but it does work. They are the light of my life ... I'd kill to defend them ... and yet its nothing compared to what they bring me.

They're adorable and affectionate ... and its hard to feel depressed when you have one rat hiding in your bra, another one tickling your ear with its whiskers and the other two having a wrestling match in your shirt.

I've got a mess of dogs. I'm scared of cats (due to a bad tempered siamese cat pet as a child). And I can't have anything that doesn't let me know when it needs food and water, because I'm horrendously absentminded. So dogs it is.

At present I have 5 goldfish: Cupid, Goldie, Lefty, Flotsam and Jetsam. I also have a Jack Dempsey who is just plain mean. His name is Bastard. Then a turtle my daughter named "Sleeping Beauty" because that's all it seems to do. I also have a few dozen snails and feeder fish.

I scaled down and dropped some fish and ultimately I just want some snails, feeders and the turtle.

Oh, and the family Doberman, Honey.

ROFL Jeff ... did you name him before or after you found out how bad of a temperament he had ...

I've had lots of goldies in the past but I move too much so its hard to take them with me. But they're really cool fishies to have.

We have one dog, a Cairn Terrier named Mabel. She's a goofball, but we love her!

I have a lovely long haired calico cat named - are you ready? - Psycho. Really - she came from the pound with that name. Maybe that's why I love her so much! She sees fairies in the air and races after them. She gets a bit wary of me when I'm manic and I don't blame her one bit...

I just have a two-year old cat that I rescued from the pound. He happens to be very hyper so sometimes he's more of a hinderance than a help but I love him anyway.

I have a 17 year old cat named Beaner. She's really tiny, but you'd never know she was old. She runs around like a kitten. When I am depressed and spending lots of time in bed, she's a great companion. Nothing like a little kitty snuggled in your armpit to make you feel worthwhile. But when I'm sick it's a different story. She has zero tolerance for sneezing, coughing or nose blowing.

I have a lizard! A leopard gecko called Pootle.. I did have 4 Leopard geckos, but a very virilant pneumonia outbreak over christmas killed 3 of them *sighs*

We only have a 350sq ft flat (apartment) so nothing any bigger possible really.. But I'm very much a dog person, and my husband is more a cat person.. so we have an agreement we have niether!! *lol* When we move we have agreed on ferrets (he's always wanted them, and they're pretty cute!!), but I am working on having a British Bulldog!! I love them!

I have two kitties, both girls, Lucy and Kiki, and a very entertaining parakeet named Skyler. He has a vocabulary that cracks me up. "Mommy kiss the bird", "Baby bird", "Don't bite your Mommy's nose", "Did you poop?", "You smell like a bird", and much more. Fortunately he has NOT picked up my more "colorful" language. And I agree with Camille, they are the only reason that I never seriously considered ending my life because of what it would do to them.

Animals give the unconditional love that we all need.

I'm a dog person although I've had cats in the past. We have a big golden retriever - not the brightest star in the universe, and somewhat recalcitrant, but very sweet and goofy in an endearing way. He only barks at cars and other animals - if a thief ever broke in, he'd probably lick his hand and wag his tail. Yesterday he started barking ferociously becase we had 6 deer in our front yard. (he was in the house) As soon as he looked more closely and realized that they were all bigger than he is, he got very quiet.

Sometimes it seems like he's the only family member really happy to see me when I come home. Really where else are you going to get such unquestioning loyalty and devotion?

I have a wonderful son, who looks too much like his father :) A Siberian Husky, named Bodega.

And I live with my long-time boyfriend, who I sometimes think I only stay with to keep our son in a stable home :) Just kidding, sort of???
No, my guy is great for the most part. We have problems, but the fun outweighs the drama.
