Is anyone out there?

Posted by Wildflower on January 10, 2004, at 23:17:10

I hesitate to even write this but I'm in a very bad place right now and really need some support.

Just got home from my work party (had two and a half drinks) and now I feel like complete dirt. Besides the fact that I'm coming down with a cold/flu or something, I feel totally alone in this world - like I was the mistake of the universe. I was supposed to go out after the event but those I was to go out with made other plans. I tried to call a relative of mine (just to talk) but she didn't answer her phone and I even tried to call my ex (who treated me like dirt) as a last resort but got his voicemail.

I can't stop sobbing and wondering why the heck I'm on this earth. I feel like no one cares about me and that it wouldn't matter to anyone if I weren't around anymore. Even my cat was so scared of my crying that he's hidden under my bed and won't come out.

What is wrong with me? When will the downward spiral end?

My cat does the same thing when I cry.

I would definitely care if you weren't around anymore, I like reading your posts. I think you have a lot of insight.

I used to do the same thing as you. I can't stand to be alone, so I would call everyone I knew just so I wouldn't have to be alone with myself. I don't do that anymore, but I still can't stand to be alone. Thats why I get on here so much. A few things you can do to occupy yourself:

1. Read a book or magazine
2. Take a bath (this is my fave)
3. Watch Lifetime (I love that channel)
4. Write a post back to me, I would love to hear from you.

Hope you feel better soon.
Elle

Thanks Elle. I love your suggestions but I can't seem to focus enough to do anything other than cry or pace around my apartment right now. I don't know why I'm having such a hard night but it feels like the world has abandoned me. I really wish there was an easy solution to this madness. Life shouldn't be this hard...

Well, sometimes getting it all out is the only thing that helps. There has been a number of times when I just sat and cried for a while. Sometimes it's better to get some sleep.

I don't know why I'm having such a hard night but it feels like the world has abandoned me. I really wish there was an easy solution to this madness. Life shouldn't be this hard...

I wish there was an easy solution too, and I wish I could think of something to say that would make you feel better (but I'm not very witty).

(((wildflower)))

Life has not abandoned you. Sometimes it's just one too many stressors that tips the scale. Feeling run down doesn't help, and sometimes drinking intensifies the old emotions.

I sincerely wish there were somewhere we could all go--you know, where everybody knows your name---when we're feeling like this. It doesn't seem right that we're so close and yet so far, but I guess years ago we wouldn't have even had the internet to connect.

You are a noticeably shiny presence on this board--you couldn't help but have friends (even if they're a little thoughtless sometimes). Try to get some sleep-- find some small comfort if you can and call it a bad night. We're having them all across the nation.

I hope tomorrow is better for you--I strongly suspect it will be.

K.L.

My cat has run away from me too, in my moments of hysteria--they can be bratty that way. But they always come back. =^..^=

I'm here, Wildflower, and my heart goes out to you. What can I say?
Hang in there? :(
Too trite. Keep posting, maybe. And remember the words in the song "Whatever gets you through the night"

Yes, people are always here for you. Sometimes it does seem as if we are totally alone and that hurts. I know that there are times when it seems no one is available to me....and that usually means that I need to work on something alone. I've had one cat for four years and she still gets under the sofa if I look at her crossways!!!
Pearlcat is something! Keep coming here because there are plenty of people who care about you. Good luck!

I mean this in a positive way...and that is I see so many people think they/we are all "alone" vs. the rest of the world...and I feel that way more often then not too. The irony is, there are millions upon millions upon millions who feel this same way too. I know it is cold comfort...but 'tis so true, and I have no idea in hell if there is anything we can do about it. It feels like a "nuclear winter"....the endless winter night that would follow if a massive number of nuclear warheads exploded...where cockroaches survive, but most of us don't. I remember in the 80's, the U.S. Vs. Soviet Union, and all of the fear of something that was likely just because a few political leader's ego's where far too big.

Anyhow...there has *got* to be a way out of this, besides just killing it all. Man, if we only knew how alone *we where not*....maybe then...I dunno.

Jay

Thank you all for your kind words. I don't usually have episodes like last night and I didn't know what to do, who to call, etc. Although I feel better today, I'm still really irritable and tired.

Just looked in to seeing how you're doing. Great you got through that bad patch.
Sometimes I have to say to myself "I just can't cope with any more today" and I take a sleeping pill and go to bed.
