Sleep study

Posted by Dinah on December 23, 2003, at 11:04:52

My neurologist seems to think it's possible that my involuntary naps/forgetting sleeps are narcolepsy. While I tend to think I have one clever coping mechanism there. So she referred me for a consultation and sleep study.

To those of you with narcolepsy - Will a diagnosis affect my driver's license?

To those of you who have done sleep studies - Do I need to wean off my Klonopin and Depakote beforehand?

Thanks!

Dinah -

An old friend of mine was diagnosed with narcolepsy, and he kept his drivers license.

He was prescribed ritalin.

I can't speak to drug weaning for a sleep study, though.

Thanks! That's a relief. I still don't think I have it, but I was worried about even going in for a study.

I can't find anything to the point on the license website.

Funny- all my life I was an insomniac until they put me on Depakote- and now I have the same problem as you do with sleep. You may want to bring it up with a few docs (because we all know you can't get a real answer from one)
