is anybody else sick?

Posted by Jai Narayan on December 21, 2003, at 18:47:12

I have what I would call a flu/cold =flold or maybe a colu....I came down with this thing slowly but all at once it felt like I had been hit by a truck. My whole body froze up for the entire night and even my hands hurt. Now I am coughing my head off. My asthma is kicking up too. I am terrified of Pneumonia....it almost killed me 30 years ago. Is anybody else out there sick and if so what do you have?

i've had a cold or flu or something for a week. my nose is running constantly and i feel weak, tired all the time, like i've had all the energy drained out of me. I spent the entire day in bed, until 5 p.m. Then I made myself coffee, then green tea, then black tea, then green tea, in an attempt to jolt myself out of my torpor. Just now I ate a pint of Ben and jerry's ice cream (I know, not the best thing when you have a cold) because I am so lacking in energy and needed something to make me feel better.

My husband is, and I'd rather be sick than have him sick. I almost died of pneumonia, too, when
I was about 2----some 50 years ago. But we're going away no matter what, for Christmas, and we're taking lots of green tea, and butternut soup.
Hope you feel better soon, and that your holidays are peaceful and joyous.

When I returned home from Thanksgiving I was ill... I was sleeping easily 15 hours a day. Horrible! Then, it felt like I was peeing fire! Even worse! I went to the dr and they gave me a mono test (negative), flu test (negative) and strep test (negative) so they said "I guess you have bronchitis." What???? I had more than bronchitis. I could barely move! Stupid doctors. Then, they gave me a urine test. Came back negative for urinary tract infection, bladder infection and kidney infection. They gave me the *wonderful* "lady" test and that came back negative for everything under the sun. So, the doctor said "Well, our urine test isn't 100% accurate, so you could still have a urinay tract infection." So, I had 3 hours worth of tests which showed there was nothing wrong with me. They gave me antibiotics, to help clear EVERYTHING up. I'm no longer peeing fire, and I can move :) Yahoo! The wonders of modern medicine! They can't diagnose anything, but they can fix something that they have no clue what it is. Still, I was convinced I had cancer for 13 days :( The crazy thing is, every time I go to my mom's I get sick. And I'm going there for Christmas. BAH :( Looks like I'll be complaining again after the new year........

I may have to get a case of the mysterious Phantom Flu (normally used by kids to evade math tests) in order to escape the worst of Christmas madness. :)

Well, I do want to see my Dad.

Feel better everyone!!

feeling just fine - but I reserve the right to come down with raging flu at any time Christmas gets too stressful.

After visiting an office with my sick as a dog therapist, my son getting the stomach flu (fortunately short lived) the exact same day, and my mother with a case of bronchial pneumonia that she says came from infected sinuses and will not stop her from coming to our house for Christmas dinner. Not to mention two large and crowded events last week where I was eying everyone with suspicion.

I don't have time to be sick!!!

It is terrible with the flu going around - everyone IS eyeing everyone else with suspicion for every cough or sniffle :-). Our office has had colds going around and we're all yelling at one another to keep your germs at home! Echinacea notwithstanding, I stayed home several days this month and I'm still not completely well after 10 days - and today I woke up achy - aarrgghhh! I hope it's not the flu, my cough hasn't gone away. As everyone else can attest, this is too busy a time of year to be sick!

Good luck and good health to everyone!
