Karen,
If the poetry you remember is any indication of the truth you seek in poetry, then I am sure that what you have written is lovely and important.
I think that poetry, unread by others, is quite lonely. Even if it is your T who reads it, it is serving a purpose.
Not everyone knows the rules of meter, when to look, or not look for a rhyme. Not everyone has at her command a large vocabulary, or the ability to evoke certain emotions with words and pulse. Still, everyone can make poetry.
Poetry isn't just about how I will feel after reading what you have written. Poetry is much more about how I feel WHEN I write, or how YOU feel WHEN you write. Every now and again, something I write has an impact on someone else. When this happens, both are blessed.
Let your guide to what you share be your heart, rather than your fear.
Dee.

That's Percy Bysshe Shelley, "To a Skylark." (I think these lines were also in the liner notes to the Cure's Wish album; evidently Klonopin-induced memory loss hasn't kicked in yet.)

I write poetry too, it's my great passion in life :)And maybe it's why I've been depressed all my life

I think a new site would be grand. Poetry babble would be wonderful. Or maybe art babble. I would love to share some short stories too. Art is a really cool way to share and feel deeply anothers life and emotions. Thank you so much for this.

You're welcome, it's one of my favorites. I do think it's sad that we can't seem to express what we want to say to the people we care about most. I am eager to have the responsibility that saying "I love you" comes along with, but just can't seem to get the words out of my mouth...:( oh well, maybe with time.
Elle

> Elle,
> That was beautifull, Thank you for sharing it. Isn't it sad how we wait until the words can no longer touch those for whom they were intended before we say them. Love, especially is a word which carries so much with it, that maybe many of us are afraid of it.
> It means that we care about another, that we want to be there for them, that we will not leave them hurting or stranded if the remedy is within our reach. It means that we are committed to that person. Maybe we don't say it because we don't want the responsibility that goes with the word.

OK, I'll try this one, it's meaningful to myself at least, because it fuses two perceptions i had.

the clock's silence, pure space

too many solutions
make brittle, algebra's clean system

is the last thing you should turn to
smashed signs, tall weeds, in vacant lots

the tall, smashed sign
dominates this lot

in a paucity of patterns
fictions of pure space

skeletal and evergreen side by side
this elegant contrast

assumes the mind

I love your poems guys, especially 'I am what I am'. Here are a couple of mine, I'm sorry they are abit morbid, thats just how I feel sometimes......

Faithful Tears

See my thoughts seep away,
Dribble over my skin.
A dose of my pain,
Drips off my fingertips,
A trickle from within.

Watch the florid stains glisten,
Well up and overflow.
These my only faithful tears,
Show me my chamber
And release my sorrow.

Let the flow stagnate and dry,
Crack the once torrid stream
Into a powdered desert,
until only branded scars lie
Where my scortched insides have been.

My Rancid Self

The knives that pierce my craving heart
Delve deep beyond what I can see
The blood that weeps the only scent
Of the stench of life in me

I think we should have an arts board too, it'd be great to see a different side to everyone here.

Dr. Bob let's do it! Let's have Art Babble? (nm)

I posted a poem on social babble awhile back. I never let anyone read my poetry, and I would definitely feel safe posting it on an arts board.

Armageddon

The lone survivor
sitting amongst the flaming remains
wondering if the flames will reach her-
calling out to the dead,
crying for what’s passed.
Waiting for her own judgment day.

The enemy was strong.
her side fought until the ammunition ran out.
Everyone good is gone-
leaving her alone to fight the evil who’d strike when a person’s down.

All her spirit has been broken-
her livelihood has been taken.
The enemy laughs as it crushes the remains of the kingdom.
Ransacking and rampaging through the gold of the dead.

The lone survivor
sitting amongst the flaming remains
wondering when the flames will reach her-
calling out to the dead,
crying for what’s passed.
Waiting for her own judgment day.

You are all so good at your writing. You manage to make the intolerable touchable; able to be understood by others.
People with hearts will be able to read what you've written, and maybe be able to feel a tiny bit of what is going on in ours.
Thank you so much for sharing your hearts here.

Love
I want to give it
pain flows out the umbilical tear that ripped my heart
in what chamber of heaven did my soul choose this wound
I came to earth so ill prepared
sucking that frozen catatonic teat
soul growth is what I demanded from this rapture
my back bent from the weight of all my sins
oh Buddha that I might share the joy
to know the divine

At dusk the light turns a violet azure and my body, mind and spirit relaxes. I like to go out into that color and imagine I can become one with it. During the red orange day of sunlight I am pursued by the hounds of my mother who insists that we children go out and play. Through out the ink black of the night I am hounded by the fears of that which is lurking behind my dolls, in my closet and under my bed. At the first of dawn the same blue hue appears but upon the heels of that respite is the unrelenting brilliance of day. On rainy days the sky can cloud up and obscure the burning ball to quietly lay a blanket of soft gray and blue. I love the feeling of quiet and rest I get then but at any moment the burly wind can blow the cotton mass of clouds into the eastern horizon. I lay in wait for the only color that matches my emotional interior. It seems to be closest to the color of the divine. I am in bliss at the end of the day.

The idea of a fiction board has come up before... "Art" to me would include images, and I'm not sure how that would work... "Writing"? All posting is writing... "Creative Writing"? Sounds like a class...

I think the idea of a creative babble would be great. I am sure that most of us do write poetry in an attempt to get our feelings "out", to express ourselves, even if is only for our own benefit.

On a different track, I have also used creative writing to my psychiatrist. He told me I could send him 1000 e-mails if I wanted. I thought he was being facetious, so I sent him a very interesting e-mail (I thought) where I made up a wonderful story of how I had arrived at work naked, accused the cleaner of being a spy, got taken home to get clothes, leapt out of the car at the traffic lights, dashed to the car behind, told the driver I was minor British royalty about to be abducted and insisted he drive me to an open field where I could get vital info beamed down to my left brain from a secret station which I would translate from hieroglyphyics and save the world. The enemy would probably try to extricate this information from my ear with their penises. This story of course had lots of embellishment. I tried to factor in as much "delusionary thinking" as possible. Anyway, it was creative writing, you could say. My psychiatrist did read it I am embarrased to admit, after I thought he wouldn't!
I had some explaining to do!!!!

short story babble? I see what you mean about Art...images as described by words? So we are looking for a way to describe and carve out the site? I guess poetry & short story babble. This at least would have the intent of what we would like to express? What do you think?

I have created some art as well, and if there were a way to support it, I might like to add some images. Short of this, how about "Poetry and Prose"?

So the question is how can this site support images. I know they take a lot of memory? I do images as well.

"Poetry short story babble"
" The phoenix " reffering to out of the ashes comes life
Maybe this might fuel some short titles for such a creative board

Oh to travel time
Erase the winds of fate
Tearing a gossamer thread
That led to pain or hate

Taking the cunning weave
Of a spider web
Silver spokes of a wheel
On which tears were shed

To hang in the sun
Dark spiders of fear
Shining spots of dew
Shadow of our tears

“Hi Dad,” I said into the phone.
“What, what did you say,” dad yelled back with panic edging into his voice.
“I love you,” I said louder hoping his hearing aid would catch the sound. I could hear it’s piercing tone revealing that he had turned it up full blast.
“Oh god, I’ll have to wait till Peg’s back,” he said hanging up the phone in anger.
I dreamed that night he could hear me. That we sat quietly in the sunlight and talked about everything. The next morning I waked with such a feeling of love and loss. He was not dead like other peoples fathers but sometimes it felt like it because he was beyond my reach in the land of silence.
