The Cheesecake Factory

Posted by sb417 on November 15, 2003, at 13:47:48

Has anyone been to The Cheesecake Factory? There's a new one in my town. Apparently they have regular entrees in addition to a dessert menu that's a mile long. I hear that you have to wait on line for several hours. Is it worth the wait?

Hi sb417
We just got a Cheesecake Factory in this city about one and a half years ago, and this city is bigger than many cities who have had them for years. People from out if town raved about it to me for years, and now we go there for dinner sometimes. It is good- especially the desserts (heavenly!) and the rest is decent- depending on what you order of course. The prices are reasonable too. I am not one to wait for any restaurant more than 15 minutes (I have very little patience on that) and the Cheesecake Factory is not exceptional enough to wait more than 20 minutes in my opinion. But that is just me. I do think you will like it if you decide to wait. Oh yeah- very nice lighting and interiors (at least the ones here and in a nearby city).

Hi Searchlight,
Thanks for the information. I think I'll wait until after the holidays to try it. The lines are so long now, and with the holiday shopping season upon us, the crowds will be even worse. I will delay gratification until January, and then I'll splurge.

They just put one in my city too about a month ago. Rumor has it that the line is 2-3 hours long but that's not uncommon for one. I went to one in Chicago - quite yummy but I think I'll wait until the line dies down in my town before I go back.

Hi Wildflower. Thanks for your reply. I'm also going to wait until the novelty wears off and the crowds subside. But I must admit that I am curious to see what all the fuss is about.

If you get there before I do, please post your review of the place.

Was yours built into a new shopping area too?

they just built a Cheesecake factory in my neighborhood too! Either we all live close to one another, or there has been a sudden influx of Cheesecake Factories! i visited my friend in chicago last year, and we went to the "express" line; got a piece of vanilla bean to go. it was absolutely the most heavenly piece of cheesecake i have ever had. simply decadent!!

I will report on it when I get there but it probably won't be for a while. Yes, they built a new mall in my neighborhood. I think The Cheesecake Factory is moving to many cities where new malls are being built.

Oooh! That vanilla bean cheesecake does sound heavenly. Many years ago I had a piece of cheesecake at a restaurant (NOT the Cheesecake Factory), and the cheesecake had Cointreau (that delicious orange-flavored liqueur) in it. That was the BEST cheesecake I've ever had. I wonder whether they have anything like that at the Cheesecake Factory.

my favorite place. they give you pagers for the wait (even though we've had one for a few years, it still takes about an hour)- so if you're with your spouse, have them wait while you go shopping:-) It's really worth it- judy

Hi Judy, Thanks for the reply. Now I don't know whether I can wait until January. Reading this thread makes me hungry!

Judy, you're not kidding about the pagers, are you? One friend of mine said she went to a movie during the wait!

Should Cheesecake support PB?

Considering all the great publicity PB posters are giving The Cheesecake Factory, maybe the restaurant should make a donation to Psychobabble!

We could all take our copies of "In Session" and read them while we wait.

I finally went to the new one in my town and I was amazed at how expensive the cheesecake-to-go was! I definity think that they could afford to make a donation to PB. ;-)

Hi Wildflower (pretty name), May I ask how expensive it was? Were all cheesecake desserts the same price, or does it vary according to what's added?

I haven't been to The Cheesecake Factory yet, but the other day, on my way home, I was very hungry and stopped in a gourmet store for a before-dinner snack. I bought a piece of pumpkin cheesecake that cost $3.00. It was just so-so. It tasted like a drier (less moist) version of pumpkin pie, and the portion wasn't very generous in size.

Hi Fallsfall. That's a good idea, or if you have a laptop, you can bring it along and log onto PB! I don't have a laptop, but I see people spending hours typing into their laptops in places like Starbucks.

the 3 I've been to all had pagers, but I would hate to miss the ending of a movie, and honestly I'm not sure of the range of the pager- I was able to go to a department store close by. Usually my husband doesn't mind waiting close by and when the pager goes off he calls me on my cell phone- you have like 10-15 minutes to get to your table or else they give it to someone else.
good luck!- judy
