Hi Liligoth,

I don't quite know which board I should've posted this on, but anyway...

If I remember rightly, you said you were in the Brisbane area? Did you have much trouble getting your pdoc to prescribe buprenorphine? Mine is worried he might be investigated for prescribing it. Are you able to recommend a pdoc or other doc in the Brisbane area that I could ask my pdoc to call and hopefully persuade him it is worth a shot? I am extremely tired of the delays, everyday is pain...

Sorry if I got you mixed up with someone else from Brisbane.

Nohope

You'll have to forgive me, I'm WAAAYYY past the pale of Drunkeness; But I carefully researched Buprenorphine for depression, and it's clear that if 2 problems can be solved;

1) you can't swallow it, a method must be found to avoid the GI tract.

2) Most partcicularly in the states, it suffers from the oppobrium of being an opiate.

I believe that, not so long ago, there was an article at the "hedweb" site www.hedweb.com that indicated that this medication was very promising for depression. I made an appointment with Dr. Stupid, Number 17-some-odd, and he said that it was simply too controversial, he wouldn't even consider it.

I wanted to snap his pencil neck like a twig, but I restrained my trembling hands.

Also, as far as alternative treatments for depression go, must be considered: Phenylethylamine (patented by a doctor in the midwest whose name I can't recall).

These issued are complex, but you all can use a search engine with equal facility to myself.

hello nohope, Im in vic. Even a gp can prescribe temgesic for 6 weeks for any reason he sees fit. After 6 weeks he has to get a permit from the health department as with any schedule 8 drug. My pdoc printed out some of the journal refs & sent them to the person he dealt with in the department for the permit. It was granted without problems. So, your pdoc or gp can do the same. If he is worried get him to ring the dept & they will tell him the procedure. Subutex is the the brand of buprenorphine given to addicts. It starts at 2mg whereas Temgesic is only in 0.2mg. There is no way to get Subutex prescribed unless it is for opiate addiction & the doc must have a special licence.
hope this helps

Thanks very much, Liligoth. Maybe I can get my pdoc to call the relevant Department and put his mind at ease a bit.

Thanks Destroyo - for whatever it is you were trying to say!

Hope your hangover won't be too bad...

Hmmm....Better to arise upon the morrow, a hung-over provacative thinker, than to live out eternity as a somnambulent drone.

I totally agree, although I still hate hangovers.

Nohope, take 2 Aspirin before bed.....

....on those nights when when you tap a keg o' boiling tar, before you go out for the night, or fill that first flagon, place the aspirin bottle on your pillow. This helps, others besides me have noted that it does.

Aspirin helps after the fact, too, should you forget to take it before slumber. Imagine, people must have suffered horribly from hangovers before Aspirin was introduced in the 1890's!

I find a bottle of Gatorade just before sleep to be the best hangover preventative of all. Problem is you've got to have discipline to do this when you're drunk and tired - more often than not I don't bother and just take the hangover.
