What Does Your Screen Name Mean?

Posted by femlite on October 14, 2003, at 16:58:06

No need to tell real names.
Just share what inspired your screen name. Your alter ego ;~)
A special memory?
you couldnt think of anything else?

Theres a verse in the Bible that says Man is the glory of God, and Woman is the glory of Man.

Of course men, like milk are esential and nutritious.
But the le cream is the sweet stuff

We get to be the shiny, ephemeral, earthreal, part of the creation.

Mine is in honor of a waterfall I used to see out of my bedroom window. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it kept falling. The Falls fall.

My name comes from a series of books called the Earth's Children By Jean M. Auel. The books Are as follows: The Clan of the Cave Bear, The Valley of Horses, The Mammoth Hunters, The Plains of Passage, and The Shelters of Stone. There is going to be one more eventually. The main character is Ayla, someone who I would love to be more like. These books are awesome and I absoulutely reccomend them to anyone. Well that's it that's where my name comes from.

I know I'm new, but I thought I'd hop in:

Here is the derivation of "ratgrrl"

I have pet rats, yes rats. I love them to pieces. They actually make fabulous pets (I guess you might have to just take my word for it, but you could also visit http://www.ratpalace.com to find lots of people who agree with me)

The "grrl" comes from my fondness for the Riot Grrrl punk music movement of the late 1990's (involving bands such as Bikini Kill and Sleater Kinney to name just 2). Since then "grrrl" has been coopted by many people/subcultures, so I figure why can't I be a grrl too?

Mine.. well.. nothing special. Zarah is just one of those names that I imagine a person with. For me I think of someone fun, exciting, beautiful (in and out), intelligent, energetic and feminine. Basically, everything I'd like to be. And the 78? Well, that's easy: It's the year I was born. :)

My favorite high school teacher told me that my poetry was beautiful and that I should write song lyrics.

She gave me a much needed boost of self-esteem to a depressed teenager.

Still depressed, but all grown up.

Just a name. Not my name IRL, but a regular, serviceable name. Maybe I should change it to something more interesting or expressive. Any suggestions? Gotta be something I can remember.

Well, My name is .... my name. Many many years ago, my SN was Andante. That was back when AOL was still using version 1.x, ran under DOS, and the internet was still 'new'. After moves, children in the house, etc. I dropped AOL, and couldn't get the SN back when I got back on-line.
Deirdre though has a beautiful, albeit sad story associated with it. It is Celtic in origin, and so I have both the Celtic and French (last name) in my name.

I'd just like to plug the double double quotes feature at this site:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#amazon

The first time anyone refers to a book without using this option, I post this to try to make sure he or she at least knows about it. It's just an option, though, and doesn't *have* to be used. If people *choose* not to use it, I'd be interested why not, but I'd like that redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration:

Thanks!

Mine came from the words 'ice cube', I like how an ice cube melts so slowly to reveal its inner self (and can can have its insides crushed to a pulp by an unkind person).

I did't want to be ice_cube though, because that makes me sound cold - and I'm not, I promise!

Great thread! The name Madwand comes from Roger Zelazny's Changling saga. In that universe, potential wizards were normally detected earlier and apprenticed so they could be guided into their powers. This process involved what they called "the setting of the lights" in which their magical awareness becomes aligned with agreed-upon magical paradigms.
Occasionally there were those whom were overlooked, and came into their powers without the traditional guidance. They were referred to as "madwands". Often their "lights" would become set in bizarre and unusual patterns. Generally these
wizards did not survive, either going completely mad or managing to blow themselves up. If they did survive they often approached magic from a radically different direction and had the potential to become quite powerful.
The jury is still out, but I haven't blown myself up quite yet.

My name: I have gotten my feet wet a little into Buddhism. However, I have not really soaked it all up. I guess you can say that I have really been seeking a spiritual mentor. (??) This sounds so silly probably. I am more of a spiritual person and I am basically looking for someone to take me under their wing and help me find my niche. Does that make sense to anyone? Anyhow, I have read some Thich Nhat Hanh and other writings. I have visited a temple here. They have a children's service, however, my two year old is so clingy and goes into an anxiety attack. I sometimes second guess this AP stuff. I am also a Kerouac reader. As you may guess, I am also a Mama.
