fellow psycho babblers, please help!
in general i do not like the whole christmas season. no one quite knows the reason. i'm pretty sure it's not because my shoes are too tight, though my heart might be a few sizes too small. :)
i have noticed a horrifying trend - early decorations! a department store near me started putting up these awful RED ARTIFICIAL christmas trees. unfortunately, i walk by said display EVERY FREAKIN DAY. no choice, it's by the exit of a public transit station i frequent.
is my only alternative to avoid commercial radio and tv, and to walk blindfolded out of transit stations until two weeks before christmas, when i grudgingly accept merriment? what do you do when faced with garish and forced holiday displays assaulting your sensibilities on a daily basis for months on end? and no i do not want to help plan the office christmas party already, but i don't know how to say no! argh! help!
sincerely,
the grinch

That irks me, too. I hate it when the stores allow the holiday seasons to overlap. It's still halloween, fer cryin out loud. Not even thanksgiving, and most definitely not christmas.

errgghhh! I loathe christmas. I loved the Grinch, reminded me of me. Anyway what I do is simply REFUSE to acknowledge the entire period. Luckily my partner is jewish so there's no conflict there. I have some close relatives who are under the age of 10 so I visit them prior to 'the day of pain' & give them some presents. Apart from that small concession it just doesnt happen as far as Im concerned.

Oh yes, the dreaded Christmas season is coming. I hate seeing decorations at all but why can't they at least wait until Thanksgiving to put them out? Personally, I'm a big fan of Halloween and I get very offended when I see decorations out before Halloween. Can't they just let me celebrate my favorite holiday in peace?
