going off meds

Posted by sarita0001 on October 7, 2003, at 17:07:09

Hi,

I will be off meds in 6 days and am scared to death. But I really need to know if I need them or not. And if that means a recurrence of symptoms so be it. I just want to share this because I feel really alone. It's just me and my therapist going through all this.

Thanks for the listen.

good luck to you! i hope you get the answers you need. it sounds like you have a good support system (therapist) around who will be able to let you know if you seem to need help.

whenever i change meds or try anything new, i always ask those close to me to keep an eye out for their input and opinions just in case they notice something before i do.

sometimes i think it's so difficult to accurately evaluate how we seem, act, behave when compared to the vantage of our friends, therapists, etc.

i hope it goes smoothly. it's a brave thing to do.

Way to go! Way to take charge of your own health. I hope that you find the answer you are looking for, and I hope it isn't a bad experience at all.

I'll be thinking of ya. And if life gets stressful, you can always come here. :-)

So we can do this together!

I've been going off of them one at a time, so I can see if there's any benefit (if I get worse, then probably I was benefiting from that particular med).

So far - I don't feel worse. In fact, ironically, if anything I feel better. Hmmm...

But, I'm not opposed to going back on something, as I'm still not in a good place. We'll see. My pdoc is working with me on it.

HI,

Thanks so much for the support everyone- it means a lot. Penny glad to hear things are going well so far. I am like you in that if I have to go on meds again I will but the only med I will go back on is lithium- even if there are all these new treatments for BP. Check back in soon. I'll be off totally in 4 days!
