doing the right thing

Posted by zenhussy on July 21, 2003, at 17:10:15

my godchildren's grandfather passed away last night. I'm glad I dropped everything and allowed them as much time with him as they could have in the past couple of weeks. I guess it has only been a month since the cancer diagnosis. This was a bad one. He went with his family around him peacefully.

I continue to answer my godchildren's questions of : why is god so unfair to make grandpa sick and make him die? why did god take your father away when you were little? this is so unfair!! and so forth.

Talk about perspective being forced upon oneself.

Phew. Lots of energy and loving continuously needed for those three littluns and their parents and the widow.

Damn this just sucks.

And who takes care of Zen's needs? They are important too. Can we help you?

This may be a day late and a dollar short, but here goes. There are lots of organizations that work with grieving children. Here's a link for one of the larger ones, The Dougy Center:

http://www.dougy.org/

There are listings of groups around the country, and information for adults dealing with grieving children. There's also stuff for children.

zen, I'm so sorry you are going through so much.
