more rambles

Will my bride sleep tonight?
Softly, believe the words as always lying?
And she sleeps and dreams lord knows what, but it's not for me to be there, and she knows she isn't there for me.It's just a way of protecting.
And will my bride believe the lie? Says it's alright; still together till we die.
But she knows that words aren't always, always what we mean to say, but still she says she loves me anyway. That's all she said.
One more word, she speaks and says goodnight. She would believe enchanted lies. I wait for her, but still inside she's dreaming of Valentino's eyes far away in someone else's night. It isn't wrong, but still isn't right. That's all she said, all she said. TTWS 1992

Wow, Pax. I love this line:

"far away in someone else's night"

Hate to say it - but describes my first marriage to a "t."

Speaking of "T" - what does TTWS 1992 stand for at the end of your poem/song? Or should I not ask?

Whatever it means - reading what you wrote was sublime yet hauntingly sad.

Marriage can be such a maze. So hard to ever figure out where to go or where we've been.

You're in my thoughts/prayers.

Those are lyrics to the song "All she said" by Toad the Wet Sprocket (TTWS). If you think the LYRICS are haunting (which, of course I agree with) you should hear the SONG! Many of TTWS tunes seem to fit the depressive mind very well. I don't know if you have ever heard of them (they are disbanded now) but their music affected me very strongly from as early as 1989 when my mom was dying, from 1991 when I was deciding it was "the right thing to do" to get married to the woman I had been dating for over a year, and over the rest of the past decade or so as I have been stuggling for answers to questions that seem to have no answers. I find much solace in these words and music. And so it goes.

Glen Phillips is my son's cousin. He's playing in the City tonight - on his own now - but everyone's too pooped to go.

I'm thinking now I have raised status in your eyes.
