effexor woes

Posted by slinky on June 3, 2003, at 18:08:14

Hi all..
I thought I'd go without my efexor for 24 hours just to get a decent satisfying orgasm..now an orgasm is the last thing on my mind.
..I 've done this before so know what to expect with withdrawal but this one is a real nightmare...felt like cutting my head off..good job I don't have a gun!
So 30 mins ago I popped my pills.

Awwww..... poor you slinky.....

I've yet to be brave enough to try that, having only been on the stuff for about 4 weeks. How long have you been taking it? Wonder if I'm going to feel the same way after a while....

Never mind. Fall asleep instead counting Bedlingtons. Baaaaaa!

:))

I went without once and will never do that again! It feels awful. I don't even remember how to describe it specifically, but I just remember it felt horrible. Good luck. Feel better.

Kalyb..

I think I've been on it 4 years.
Everyones different on this drug so don't worry..the benefits can outweigh the side effects...side effects lessen with time in my experience except this one problem.
I'm an gnashing angry Bedlington woofbaaa without efexor.

Cheers m'dears.
Getting more curious now slinkee - you don't have to answer. But I wondered what dosage you're on, whether it's normal effexor or XR, whether you/anyone develops tolerance of it after time. 4 years, eh!

I'm not worried. The benefits I've had so far are great. Now I know what some people on Prozac meant when they said "better than normal". Prozac didn't do that for me.

Wonder what I'm going to do about the anorgasmia, though. Do you think ginkgo is worth a try? Or should I just get used to being a nun? Or do nuns have more fun?

Hello...

I take 225mg xr. I thought it was pooping out on me and I don't want to raise the dose but after I missed a dose it seems to kick back in...
Being a nun I found a monk with the same problem...we get tired out :-)
The doc used to prescribe buspar for sensitivity but that's not the problem -high libido but the orgasm seems quick and unsatisfying..not deep...kind of like a male orgasm I suppose.
If you want to ask anymore questions I'll be pleased to answer..at the moment I think I'm a wee bit out of it after being in the lows...so I hope I'm making sense :-)
see yer later........

Don't know about that..
To be honest..the efexor has improved sex..to the point where the big O isn't really important , strange.
Guess sex is more sensual and stuff.
Anyway before I reveal graphic details of my sex life I'd better go :-)

Evertime I hear y'all talk about XFR (Desexor?) WD's and "stuff" it makes me so glad that it was one of the many meds that didn't work for me... Sorry that you have to go thru all that crap!

Slinky, hope you get some sweet dreams soon :)

***Singin' right along with you, Kalyb***

I can sooo totally relate to this. Effexor has been a wonderful med for me. I've been on 150 mg for about 2 months. It has allowed me to be myself finally and has pretty much saved my marriage from the brink of separation. I had nearly *zero* libido before Effexor, but could climax easily. Now it's the reverse - quite a cruel thing to give you intense desire, but no way to relieve it. I'm going to ask my pdoc about it when I see him on Friday, although I talking s - e - x with him.
