You're good! I can only remember favorite lines - never identify them (well, maybe something like Astalavista, baby, wasn't that from Terminator?). Or "Adriannnnn." Hmmmm, maybe I'm best at one or two word "A" lines.

What about: The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize.

No, I'm not good. I'm not a movie buff so if I saw it & liked it, it's easier to remember as I don't watch movies much. And to be honest, I forgot to mention that the corn shucking one I didn't know but you got me curious so I Googled it. Took a few tries as the quote wasn't exact. The last quote you gave, I don't have a clue. I'd need to Google that one too.

I'm so glad that Spirited Away won an Oscar as the Japanese director, Hayao Miyazaki is *good*. I love animés & now have the DVD so I can hear the proper Japanese voices & read it subtitled. Now I've got to get Grave of the Fireflies by another great Japanese director. Unlike Spirited Away, it's a very sad story about two children during the bombing of Japan in WW II. Sad & depressing but very beautiful.

I haven't seen Spirited Away but just recently I noticed that it had excellent reviews.

There's something odd about the way my brain works. I've never been able to concentrate well on animated features (even cartoons as a child) and I abhorred comic books/comics.

But, the name "Grave of the Fireflies" and your description piqued my interest so I just went and did a search on google and found this link -

It sounds like an incredible film. It's difficult for me to imagine this subject matter being animated. Hmmmmm, I may have to subjugate my distaste for animation and rent this one. This has me intrigued:

"Japanese poets use 'pillow words' that are halfway between pauses and punctuation, and the great director Yasujiro Ozu uses "pillow shots"--a detail from nature, say, to separate two scenes. "Grave of the Fireflies" uses them, too. Its visuals create a kind of poetry."

In North America, animated films (or cartoons) are just meant for kids. In Japan, it's meant for all ages & there are lots of X-rated animes too - not my taste. But the good animes meant for adults (that aren't nasty stuff) are incredibly beautiful & well done. If you watch a few, it'll make you think of animated films in an entirely diff light. You'll never think 'cartoons' any more. And it's not choppy like cartoons are but well done, exquistely executed films that are works of art.

Princess Mononoke & Spirited Away are more light-hearted than many, with a happier ending. too.
