calling all swingers

Posted by rayww on January 21, 2003, at 2:16:57

Once upon a time there was a Marvelous Man and a Wonderful Woman who lived
in the Land of Cyber. Cyberland was an interesting place to live. The streets
were lined with swings, not fences, and the preferred method of transportation
was a roller coaster.

The people who lived in cyberland, all swingers, had learned early on that
the way to receive a really great idea was to swing with it. So, it was a
very common sight to see people of all ages outside swinging at any time
of the day or night.

There were all kinds of swings in cyberland; tall ones and short ones, thin
ones and wide ones, for there were all sizes and kinds of people who lived
there. But, the greatest swingers in all the land were Marvelous Man and
Wonderful Woman. Together, they were the inventors of many marvelous and
wonderful ideas.

Their most marvelous and wonderful invention was their cyberspace roller
coaster that transported people all over town, rolling over and under, around,
and upside down on a cyber optic invisible track and transparent crash-resistant
carts. The idea that came into the ever-thinking master mind of Marvelous
Man, was what started the whole think rolling.

One bright sunshiny day when Marvelous Man felt more like sitting on his
swing than painting his deck, fixing the broken steps, or putting up a clothes
line, he began swinging from one idea to another till, all of a sudden he
thought his head was going to explode with wild and wonderful ideas. This
was a great day for him. So much swinging was going on in his head as he
explored one idea and then another, and before he was finished with the last
idea another would swing in. He was swinging about as high as a kite when
suddenly, a splash of inspiration hit him like a bolt of lightening and he
exclaimed, "If we build it, they will come!!"

He hadn't realized how transfixed he was in his own swinging until he was
startled by Wonderful Woman, who had been swinging by and overheard him shout
and saw him dance as he exclaimed, "they will come!"

Now, the reason Marvelous Man thought Wonderful Woman was so wonderful,
was because she always knew what he was thinking, and she had the power to
calm his terrific ideas and make them realistic and manageable. Her ideas
were always based on reality and sensibility, and seldom did she ever get
out of line, or step on anyone's toes. Careful and cautious, yet spirited
and intuitive, she somehow had the wonderful ability to ice the cake of any
situation.

Marvelous Man was a project person, and liked it best when there were several
he could choose from. Of course being the Marvel that he was, he could always
come up with a large list of project choices, the least of which would be
fixing the deck, repairing the steps, or building a clothesline. He had such
exciting things to do, and this latest and greatest new idea of his [yes,
his] would truly be the icing on the cake. Sorry, this new idea would truly
be the chocolate cake of his tasteless meal.

Wonderful Woman had stopped to visit Marvelous Man at just the "right" moment.
To receive the full explanation at the very moment of inspiration, was a
gift unequaled, as Wonderful Woman considered a swinging idea one of life's
greatest treasures.

Wonderful Woman had her own set of very carefully placed swings in her back
yard. She was an organized sort, and had a different swing in a different
spot for every mood she could imagine. A questioning mind, full of curiosity,
she could wile the time away like it didn't exist by floating from one swing
to the other, as she discovered how to manipulate her own moods and channel
her thoughts into her own power.

As Marvelous Man and Wonderful Woman came together that beautiful sunshiny
afternoon, their ideas seemed to meld together and as they spoke the creation
of the roller coaster evolved.

A common dreamer, Wonderful Woman mentioned dreams of flying and of how much
power she felt when she was in the air and in control. It was unbelievable
to put into words how it felt to be able to soar wherever she wanted to go.
Thus, the idea of the invisible roller coaster was borne.

Travel has never been the same in Cyber Land since the melding of those
two minds that great day. And, yes, they did come. People with swings of
all shapes and sizes, colors, and designs. A swing is not just a swing anymore
in cyber land. Each one has character and design, and has the ability to
create and manipulate mood.

Riding the roller coaster from place to place keeps people swinging and
increases their ambition to reach higher and higher sights. sites? But the
best thing about cyber land is friendship. Travel has become so much fun
that everyone is out doing it. People would rather travel out to visit their
neighbor than stay indoors in front of the TV or computer. People would rather
be out swinging with their own new and swinging ideas than isolated on their
couch behind closed doors. Everywhere you go you see people laughing and
having fun, swinging, flying, speeding, turning, going this way or that as
they manipulate their own track through town.

And, they are chuckling.

I really enjoyed reading this. I just wonder: Did they live happily ever after? I love happy endings, they will always beat the tragic endings.

Thanks for the creativity and the hope it brings.
